Ok, your losses or gains, I really don't know, I know the only downside to Blur was the weak multiplayer focus, I figured it would be up to 4 player split screen but it's 2 player split and 4 player hot seat.

I'd say that the people who loved skateboarding grew up. Look at Tony Hawk!

The generation is no longer young.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

That was amazingly ignorant.

Skateboarding didn't come into existance with Tony Hawk games, boarding has been around since the 70's maybe even 60's, that's not even counting surfing.

bah never cared much for those games.

the game didnt get stale the devs just tried to make it more realistic which killed the craziness of the game and thats exactly why skate will never be as big as thps use to be.

It was partially a joke, but at the same time it's still a point. We haven't had a mainstream skateboarding icon since Tony.

And I do know that skateboarding as been around for quite a while. Although, I think interest in the sport has died down a little bit.

dib as someone who use to skate 10 years ago id agree with auron. skating was ahuge fad and thps had a huge effect on it. and i hated those kids and the second wave of bam magera followers because of jack ass and never even heard of CKY

The problem with that theory is, it doesn't address the fact that the Tony Hawk games have went to shit. There hasn't been a skateboard game that has topped the original games (2/3 mainly, I think). THPS2 didn't get a 98 on metacritic just because of a skate fad 10 years ago.

If an amazing skateboard game comes up now, you don't think it's possible for it to sell millions? I think it is. To be honest, I didn't know shit about Tony Hawk OR skateboarding until his games came out, which drew attention since they were so damn good. Same with the N64 (WCW) wrestling games. Perhaps I'm the minority here, though.

Same here.  I didn't know jack about skate culture.  I bought Grind Session for the PS1 because I read that  there were cute girls in it (and there weren't).  I thought ,"Heh.  This is fun."  But then I played Tony Hawk's Pro Skater via demo disk.  It was fucking awesome.  I bought it and was hooked ever since.  But Activision refused (or just couldn't) innovate after part 3.  They threw us perks and such, but it was always the same old game.  Toss in some addictive gameplay and some flash, and I WILL buy another skateboarding game.  In the meantime, I'll live in the past.
