Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Launch day 360 units no longer under three-year warranty coverage

An anonymous e-mail hit the tips line earlier today and after placing a call with Microsoft’s technical support, we can confirm that starting February 2, all launch day Xbox 360s will no longer be covered by Microsoft’s three-year extended warranty. The warranty should have technically ended at the end of September last year, as I was told by the technical support agent.

If you’re unfortunate enough to own a launch version of the Xbox 360 and need to send it in for repairs after February 2, you’ll have two options available to you. You can either call Xbox’s support line and get the unit fixed for $119, or you can just go to Xbox’s online support page and get the unit fixed for $99, saving yourself $20.

Too bad if this is true, it was good while it lasted...

I hope this is just some lie BS

Methinks most of those boxes are dead by now.

That makes sense. They can't support them forever. I was planning to get an Arcade for a while and got one late last year. If my 2nd-wave 360 gets another RROD, my son will be pissed. LOLz.

so if it dies again, buy a new one, and you good luck suing since you were in a 3 year warranty.

ouch >_o

Probably work out cheaper in the long run to just buy a new 360 and get another 3 years worth of free fixes.

Another way is to do what you said, then have your broken unit repaired and selling it second hand. Unless it's hard to get more than $100 for a second hand 360.

No more intentionally making your 360 go red lights

Ok Ok,,The ps3 I launch on these markets in:

Japan on November 11, 2006

The United States on November 17, 2006

Europe on March 23, 2007..

I have understood that the guarantee of sony is 1 to 2 years...truhc

In japan for two years do not have guarantee

In united states it she does two that it she does not have either.

In europa also two years ago.

Which is your point with this post?....

If they go out for me the YLOD were not repairing me free either my ps3..

I do not believe that it is an exclusive problem of the holders of 360, no guarantee is of for all  life..

Honda motors only gave two years to my civic..

do not be pathetic...

hehe, I wonder how this will affect sales (In a good way for MS!)?
