Forums - Sales - Japan first day sales - Tales of World 2 (PSP) vs. FF: EOT (DS, Wii), WE

I think that EoT has higher chances of having legs, because of its local multiplayer features. If anything has legs in Japan, it´s either casual games or local multiplayer handheld games. Personally I expected more, especially from the DS version (~100k). Maybe the multiplayer experience is not good, so people are not buying it. If that´s the case then it won´t have any legs.

Good for ToW2, PSP is really the hardcore system of choice in Japan. I´m waiting for an overseas release.

The Echoes of Time concept seems pretty neat, but requiring every player to buy his/her own copy, combined with pathetic production values for a Wii title...

It was an experiment, but I think it would have been better if it allowed local multiplayer with the Wii version alone with DS download play or something.

No one takes the FFCC series seriously, mostly because FFCC on GC was full of these chibi characters. SE poisoned the series by doing this, and the "core" FF fans threw it back in their face. They want a proper, mainstream FF, not FF Junior.

Because Wii version is so similar to DS so people decided to buy DS version because it easier to carried away and play with your friend.

If you got 4 friends why all need to buy 4 EOT(Wii)?Instead ,only 1 buy Wii version and other buy DS version. That way you can play multiplayer together(3 DS ,1 Wii) and switch position when someone want to play on Wii.

That's what i think while going to buy this game ,and maybe people there thinking the same way.

Then problem is ,if they want EOT to sell high on Wii.SQE gotta add something more to attract people to buy it.

Or most decided to buy DS version 1st to try how good it is ,then buy Wii version later if it come out a very good game.
So what i hope is SQE make this game good enough which'll make this game got beautiful legs.

Tales sold surprisingly well.

well, i have to say this time FFCC bombed

i think what caused it is mostly the fact that the game was announced not long before!? (see Crystal Bearers and FF13)

there was no hype for this game, the only thing known was that there was a DS and a Wii version that connect with each other, this is not enough

there was not even a gameplay trailer for the game, some vidoes showing connection Wii and DS but not telling anything about the game!

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

The game seems to not use the DS microphone or Wii Speak, even with friend codes. That to me diminishes the games value, the preset chat is always going to be too limited (even if it automatically translates phrases between languages - a neat feature)

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

I wonder how FFXIII and DQ 9 would have sold on the 360 has they been exclusive to that system, now that would be a good WHAT IF scenerio.

I doubt either one of those two games would've done any better in Japan, especially since the system is the weakest selling of the three new consoles.  (Occasional JRPGs did boost it somewhat... but even some of Square's titles on that system were not enough.)

I expect CRYSTAL BEARERS to do far better, because that title had been hyped for some time, and hey, Square-Enix confirmed that it was coming by way of showing a TRAILER of it on EoT.

So PES PS3 sells about as well as last year, but the PS2 version decreases hard. Well done Konami. Maybe next year release them at the same time, or release the Wii game next to the PS3 version.

I'm sad that a DS game on Wii has about the same opening day as Fragile. Still 14,000 is not impressive, but combined FFCC:EoT has an opening day of 76,000 which is rather good.

Wow @ TotW2. PSP is doing great lately.

PS3 has definitely picked up some sales... Maybe not as much as Sony might have hoped...
