I'm amazed at how much you're bothered by the fact that the Zelda series is adored by many. Get over it.

I also agree with this.  In terms of mass acceptance.

I also think Mario is underrated.  A spin-off (Mario Kart) should not sell more than the main series.  =/

Why is it great?  Because it fucking rocks! 

But in all seriousness, it's a mix of the beautiful overworlds, the interesting characters, the cool items, the dangerous dungeouns, and the challenging puzzles.  It's just awesome.

Yea just center of core gaming really never makes it to deep in the mainstream and that's what Zelda is.  As core as it gets haha.  But Zelda is just that one series that I can play forever and it'll just keep a smile on my face.  And I know it's the only series that when a trailer goes up for it, the gaming world pauses to watch.

WHAT?!?!?!?!?! everyone is entitled to their own opinion but that just blew my freaking head up in some kind of sick paradox where all time classic franchises are refered to as "over rated"

Yea, neither am I. I've only rented MP3, I'll probably get it when it's really cheap.

Agreed on both counts.  I'm currently replaying Twilight Princess, and only wish I had more time to devote to it.  And everyone remembers the legendary E304!

Yea there's just nothing like Zelda when it comes to gaming in general.  And people always ask well why, and ya know I can't explain why.  It's the experience that it brings to your home and I can't explain it why its just so amazing but it is.  Personally, it's the greatest gaming franchise ever created and everyone looks to it to explain to the world as why gaming means so much to the select few of us.  So yea that's Zelda to me and why I love it and why a lot of people love it.
