Forums - Website Topics - Gamer.Blorge calls Vg Chartz "infamously inaccurate" - gives stupid reasons

http://gamer.blorge.com/2009/01/25/could-fallout-3-dlc-come-to-the-ps3/

Sites such as the infamously inaccurate VGChartz put the total sales around 3 million sold to date. However, even this number is grossly inaccurate because the site stops counting sales for different regions at different times for different platforms. I would estimate that the Xbox 360 probably sold around 2 million units, PS3 around 1.6 million units and PC around 1 million units.

_____

WTF

the game gets released in different regions at different times....so the sales week will obv. be different in each region!

But you have to give him credit. After all, he's definitely a professional analyst and sales tracker himself.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

There was a comment that echoed the article as well, that is just as funny.

"VGChartz has been proven to be extremely unreliable relying heavily on: trends/scaling/guessing

Suffice to say it is an interesting site and a good place for fanboys to hangout at, but I wouldn’t put too much stock in any of the numbers they put up"

while our software number arent great our hardware is pretty damn accurate.

Blorg is not exactly the best of sites. I think the person looked at the charts and didn't understand how to read them (and thought that sales tracking ended at 10 weeks).

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

He's insane if he thinks Fallout 3 only sold 1 million on PC... if anything PC could be outselling both console versions combined (including DD sales ofcourse).

Fallout 3 is still on every known PC Top10 chart known to man, and will stay there for some time.

"I would estimate..."

So you estimate. You don't track and process data... I can call BS on VGC too if so, and I'd be wrong just like you.

If someone could write a little comment beneath his "article" that would be cool. Just one sentence to point out how completely silly his reasoning is.

I'd do it myself but I'm tired now and will get some sleep.

Nice find, Darth

His reasoning is pretty much based on its not close enough to shipments. What a silly goose he must be. For anyone to think that a largely hyped game will have sales around initial shipments is silly. Retailers buy more of games they think will sell more and they buy for the future as well. Which is why Halo 3 had some 8.1 million shipped by the end of December 2007 when sales were somewhere around 5.5-6 million.

Even further he forgets we don't track PC games, which is why PC version sales aren't included and that games don't always release on the same second of every fucking day.

I love when ignorant people write things on sites people read. It just allows me to own them even more famously.

@louie

I found the news story on N4G

I I wrote a scathing comment there in its comment section bit
