I have a dual core laptop with 3GB of RAM, a GeForce 8600M screendriver and a 640GB hard drive... that overheats and starts lagging when I play absolutely anything on it. Never buying the cheapest machine for a set of specs that I can find ever again. ^^

I used to get that problem a lot with my old Toshiba. Just buy a cooling base with at least two 3000 RPM fans and that should solve your overheating problems. Bear in mind the position of the GPU and CPU on your laptop since you want a base with fans that are directed to those spots in particular.

Current PC Build

CPU - i7 8700K 3.7 GHz (4.7 GHz turbo) 6 cores OC'd to 5.2 GHz with Watercooling (Hydro Series H110i) | MB - Gigabyte Z370 HD3P ATX | Gigabyte GTX 1080ti Gaming OC BLACK 11G (1657 MHz Boost Core / 11010 MHz Memory) | RAM - Corsair DIMM 32GB DDR4, 2400 MHz | PSU - Corsair CX650M (80+ Bronze) 650W | Audio - Asus Essence STX II 7.1 | Monitor - Samsung U28E590D 4K UHD, Freesync, 1 ms, 60 Hz, 28"

He might be just as well buying a small bit of wood/appropriating a piece from somewhere. Odds are that like almost every other laptop owner in the land he has it sat on his lap/on a quilt in bed.

Which one did you buy? Have you overclocked it at all? If you have, what has the OCing experience been like for you? Is it much harder than the C2Ds once you know what each bit means?

its i7 920 overclocked to 3.2ghz its easy to overclock with Asus p6t motherboard ... i have heat issues now because of the overclock the degree jumped from 43 to 64 now so if u want to oveclock it u should get a good heatsink.

I own a Macbook... and.. I don't know.

Well it doesn't quite work like that. My old toshiba didn't have overheating issues for over a year since i first bought it, so i pretty much used it on my lap when i was at home, or on top of a wooden table when i was on the university. When the first overheating problems ocurred, i bought that base, and began using it just on top of a desk, even back at home, it's all just a matter of wanting your laptop without problems, that up to to laptop user. Most laptops don't have overheating issues if treated right, my new laptop, even when playing Crysis on high doesn't overheat at all, since it has 4 fans directly cooling the GPU, CPU and HDD, so it's almost at a stable temperature of 40-45 ºC.
