All of the above. There is a significant jump from single to 2 Core Duo, especially if you go to 64 bit and get 4G+ of RAM. Quad core will be much less dramatic because almost nothing is written for Quad but eventually it will be useful.
A dual core Turion notebook and a single core AthlonXP 2200+ desktop that I'll soon replace with a dual-core, most probably an Athlon X2 5050e. This time I won't keep the old desktop case as in past upgrades, I bought a more comfortable to work inside mid-tower and low-noise PSU and case and CPU fans.
Core 2 Duo. I love it, it works great still, just need a better GPU and more RAM now...
