Forums - Microsoft - Take a chill pill before reading, but according to GameInformer the RRoD...

Europhia14 - Did yours get progressively worst or did you send yours for repair?

I believe mine happened the same way, as I did leave it on one or two days for the same reason. The annoyance depends on the game as I just picked up Mario Galaxy and was going to test that to see how bad. Right now I haven't sent mine for repair (glad It's $75 versus $100 and $150 at least considering the cost of the Wii) because I only planned on picking up Mad World and HOTD: Overkill at the moment so my Wii wasn't going to be seeing much play time.

It's just that simple.

I should know better really. The RROD situation is a joke but people continue to act like MS has done nothing to help the situation. My friend got laughed at when he said his PS3 recently died and Sony wanted $150 to fix it. Needless to say he was pretty pissed. The bottom line is any system can fail, and after seeing my Wii get the flashing pixels (for reference this has not been known to disable the system as of yet, but it's rather annoying in certain games where it looks like I have 20+ dead pixels on my screen. Go do a search for what the hell I'm talking about here and see how common it is with launch Wiis) I believe we are at the point in time that nothing with electronics is truly reliable anymore.

My folks TV lasted for 10+ years, but newer TVs seem to last 5 or so if your lucky. Electric razors crapping out, newer cars, air conditioners, newer fridges and the list goes on. Kinda funny I can boot up my original NES without any issues, and the biggest problem was the pin connector which can be replaced for a measly $6.

I agree completely.

But since no official figures exist, the bashers will keep flogging the dead horse smiling with glee. Heck, now that the situation has returned to some-sort of normality, the virals and marketers are trying to pass off the E74 as "the new RROD".

@signalstar: so what? all disc based consoles overwear discs until they are not readable. It's just the way optical media is. Only really good transports leave discs unblemished and you won't find those in any consumer product, no matter if it's a console a cd-player or a dvd-player.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

So ring. Nintendo's holiday line up was the biggest disappointment. RROD was the biggest of 07 maybe, but definitely not this year.

I sent it in for repairs, but unfortunately for me that did not help matters either. They sent it back with a new motherboard but forgot to get it to work with everything else but the power button. The thing would turn on, eat my disc, not give it back, not read it, not go online, etc... I was stuck in the menu with nothing to do, can't get the Wiimote to work either, it was a mess.

I sent it back a second time (they were nice enough to give Next-Day Air) unfortunately for me again I didn't get my Wiisports disc back, even though the console ran perfectly fine.

Blu Ray has a scratch proof coat. Scratches on PS3 games are rare.

I'm not posting this to insult the 360 or say the PS3 is better just pointing how effin annoying it is when a brand new copy of Madden 09 is interuppted halfway through and comes out with a fresh circular scratch that was not there before.

You know, what is funny for me in regards to the RRoD thing is that both my Wii and PS3 have given me problems, my PS3 controllers won't connect unless I hook them up with usb first. My 360 however is the only one that has yet to give me any trouble what so ever. *knock on wood*

APPLE'S hyped iPHONE has a 9-11% failure rate within 2 years and 6% in the first year.

Blackberry phones have 12% failure rate within 1 year and 14% after 2 years

http://news.cnet.com/8301-1035_3-10092377-94.html

Electronics malfunctions are actually quite common. Microsoft is the only company offering a 3 year warranty.

Yeah it sucks, but it really isn't as big a deal as people make it out to be

for cellphones its 2 years now both sony ericsson and nokia offer such warranty via cellphone companies, but not many nokias comes with problems, the n76 did have a peeling issue. and the sony ericsson w580 had a broken key problem but nothing as bad as leaving the phone unsable.

also iphone and blackberry are not nothing in market share... iphone its not even 1% compared to nokia almost 40% marketshare.

Is that a joke? The iPhone is more popular than you think.
