You get money and XP from completing missions, amounts depend on how well you do. XP is spent on levelling classes, and money is spend on upgrading armor and weapons (you can buy small extra missions, they're quite neat)

@OP Because everybody says so. A little update on Amazon's current ratings : (The poor guy who gave it 3 stars got trashed by the other reviewers). |
This in a nutshell.

You also get new weapons sometimes when you earn medals or rewards.

Actually Advance Wars (all of them) had recieved better reviews and sold better than Valkyria Chronicles, so your arguments are meaningless |
According to VGChartz (shown below) Valkyria Chronicles is 4x more popular in Japan than Advance Wars (which only Dual Strike was released in Japan). If we look in the US (only other place with sales information for Advance Wars) Advance Wars is 3-4x more popular than VC. Since we don't have others data, we can't compare over there, but overall VC will probably end up selling similar amounts to the two advance wars games once you factor in Others.

@nordlead
It's a shame we don't have Others numbers for the Advance Wars series, but I think they've sold rather good over here (as far as I know very popular in Germany) and I doubt VC could reach similar sales in Others.

Your picking cherries. V_V unless I'm missing something, one speaks of reviews the other speaks of sales; in the end your talking about acceptance, but your speaking specifically for Japan? I'm pretty sure Barozi is speaking some form of English... and I'm pretty sure Japan isn't an English speaking country despite who owned them before 2000 was it?
In the end up to your post, Barozi wasn't incorrect, your spinning me around though; nothing personal.
I'm Unamerica and you can too.

I only had ONE negative aspect and that was the unlimited counter-attacks when it's your or the AI's turn. They should have borrowed the classic turn based gameplay for counter attacks from Advance Wars (or any other game with that system). @nordlead I'm just saying I don't like that piece of the gameplay and I think it hurts in the strategy parts of the game

Actually I think that this is a great positive point of VC, for it's totally unrealistic the enemy would do nothing but wait for you to attack while you are moving and I think it makes the battles in VC far more intense and immersive.

Holy shit !
I heard of Battalion Wars, but I never thought that it could be in the same series as Advance Wars.
I looked it up on Wikipedia and realized that the series is far bigger than I thought at first. ( I only know the GBA and DS games)
and yeah I forgot Days of Ruin sry
