It's still coming. Don't be surprised at the lack of news: it's announcement was a pity bone thrown by Miyamoto. Nintendo wasn't ready to officially announce it, and it might be a while before they do.

But courage! Olimar shall return soon enough!

Nintendo's going to release it after reviving the public's interest in the franchise with the Pikmin 1 & 2 wiimakes.

Don't worry, it's coming. They just want to make sure it performs as well as it should.

It's probably going to end up as Nintendo's hardcore first party game lineup for the second half of 2009, or the first half of 2010.

it wasnt really a proper announcement. basically miyamoto has been working on his pet projects for years. he was never really 'hardcore' in a western sense. the idea for zelda for example was all about giving the players a little garden to explore rather massive epic adventure against an ultimate evil type thing. his latest pet project was wii music. he came to E3 wanting to show it off. instead he got people telling him that he was a traitor to his fans and how he felt about dissappointing so many people. he just announced pikmin 3 to shut them up

Nintendo never officially announced they were making pikmin 3. A bunch of journalists cornered Miyamoto and beat him until he said "we're making pikmin". Now, if that means pikmin 1 & 2 for Wii, or Pikmin 3 I don't really have a clue.

Actually, we do know, thanks to Dunaway. When someone asked her for clarification during the Pikmin 1+2 unveiling, she said something along the line of "no, these are different than the game Miyamoto was talking about."
