Simple logic, by the end of it all Japan alone will do away with 360 current ww advantage. FF13/Versus pretty much guarantee that.

While Gran Turismo will effectively kill the 360 in most European markets especially France Italy Germany and Spain, 360 might limp on with mediocre Uk sales.

A cut would help.

Yeah because all of the 1.5-2 million copies of FF13 in Japan that are sold will be alongside a new PS3.  None of the 3-4 million people in Japan that have a PS3 already will purchase FF13.

This goes for Gran Tourismo all around the world. So wonderful that the PS3 software has this effect on people.

Look at what FF7 did to the PS.

History repeats it self.

It's this kind of expectation that's gonna disappoint later.

Where's that .jpg depicting a chalkboard with the names of all games that at some point were hoped to be the saviour of the ps3?

Most people on this site are already behind hyping anything as the mythical "comeback-title".

I love that chalk board!

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

while i don't think its impossible for the PS3 to outsell the 360 lifetime I do see it as unlikely. The fact is PS3 sails are slumping while 360 is having its best year ever which is something you can't ignore. A price cut for PS3 will be huge and alot of people will buy one after that but I expect Microsoft will certainly do something to counteract it. Either way I don't see the PS3 passing the 360 till after the next-gen has started and at that point who really cares?

Also its interesting PS3 fanboys have brought up blu-ray so many times in this thread when its been proven time and time again that it isn't a very large selling point at all. Hell, HDTV's still have a terrible attatch rate compared to SD and a blu-ray won't do a damn thing for you without one. That's not saying that blu-ray isn't awesome but the fact is its not the HUGE selling point you guys are making it out as.

its far from over but the 360 definatly has the edge. Well just have to wait and see if the Price cut on the PS3 will live up to the fanboys expectations. And if it does we will have to see how M$ reacts.

Long Live SHIO!

And did I mention brand name yet? Even if Xbox is bigger than ever, PlayStation is still bigger. Well, in that sense regions are very important I must say.

Actually now the problem is that the Playstation is starting to be seen as a failed brand.  My local Target and CostCo case in point.   At Targe Xbox 360 and the Wii have huge sections devoted to them and the PS3 section is 1/3 the size.  Our CostCo no longer even has a PS3 software section. Just has PS3 bundles and that is all.

Like I said, regions are important. Xbox is growing pretty big in North America but is still far behind that in Europe and Japan, even if it is growing even there. Failed brand? I don't think so. I'd say it's pretty much forum-talk and doomsday-blogs. The average consumer doesn't probably think of PlayStation as a failed brand.

It doesn't need to outsell the XBox360.
The Ps3 just has to sell more consoles per week and more software.
Moreover the Xbox has a jumpstart of almost 1 and half years...
Just imagine the Xbox would immediately stop to sell, I suppose the Ps3 would close the gap quickly.

What the average consumer sees are aisles that used to belong to the playstation family being refitted to accommodate Wii and 360 games.

Even in Spain, most retailers I've been to use 50% of their floorspace for Nintendo products while the rest is evenly split between Microsoft and Sony.

Consumers do notice it when they are picking games from either center row or the back corner.

Even if Wii and Xbox are gaining popularity, it doesn't mean that PlayStation is doing significantly worse than before. Sure, there's some impact but I doubt it's that big yet.

And another week has passed and a new one begins.... 360 Outselling the PS3 as always.....

This thread's still open? It's just become another "PS3 fails" "No 360 fails" "Nuh uh!" "Yuh huh!" thread.
