@TheProf: Yeah, you're better not to associate.
Ei Kiinasti.
Eikä Japanisti.
Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.
Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.
| bdbdbd said: @TheProf: I'm not sure did i get your logic. First you ask to who Nintendo catered last year, someone posts the list of games and then you complain about that the games were released last year and about their sales. Wait, now i got it. It's called moving goal posts. |
I followed the logic of the quote, inferring that they cater towards non-gamers.
puffy then said that they cater to gamers, non-gamers, and lapsed gamers
I then asked which one they catered to in the last 12 months (meaning gamers, non-gamers, or lapsed gamers).
Many wii owners on this very site have pointed out, there have been a severe lack of "gamer" games in the last 10 months. However you wanna define that to help prove your own point is fine, but the fact is, SSBB is 10 months old and since there hasn't been anything as good as TP, SSBB, MP,SMG, RE4 so on and so forth.
EDIT: although, the definition of good is also up for debate.

Also, labelling games like Super Mario Sluggers or Animal Crossing casual, the sort of franchises they've had during the GC era, doesn't make too much sense to me. Besides, it's well known there are holes in their releases. They just dumped a ton of core titles in 07 / early 08, so it'll take a while for more to come. They'll release their games once they're ready - they tend to take a while for the main core games like Zelda. Just look at the number of times SSBB was delayed. If one plays lots of games, they shouldn't solely depend on Nintendo, anyway. If you look at their Gamecube lineup, you'll notice they published about the same number of core titles for the first 2 years.

i understand the logic of using the GC, but why would you want to compare this systems lineup with one another system that was almost buried alive (I loved my GC, there is no animosity here, unfortunately mine was stolen with WW inside it and I was very very upset)

You know it's normal PR right?
MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"
Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

But therein lies the contradiction. You're a non-gamer, yet you're buying a Wii - a videogame system.
Wii caters to gamers just fine. They may have really high sales for their non-game title but they have plenty of good sales for their core games.
@maxwell I don't think so. It's been an object of argument since before the release of the wii. But now people are translating it as some kind of insult... gimme a break.
I could find some quote somewhere saying that nintendo is aiming at non-gamers and not at the HD consoles from 3 years ago. I'm too lazy though, but you should count on a quote like that existing.
This isn't PR spin, it's fan spin, but it shouldn't be. Being in a competition doesn't mean anything. They are doing well in their own market which just so happens to be gaming.
Its like clothing stores. Limited Too isn't competing with big and tall but they make a lot more money.
(I think) This is all because wii owners are afraid to admit that they aren't competing because they want to still be called gamers, even though they are obviously gamers.
