If we're not counting Wii _, I'm going to say either Grand Theft Auto or Call of Duty. Probably CoD, since they pump out a game every year.

 Oh, Call of Duty is definitely bigger than Grand Theft Auto.

GTA should pump out a ~ 15M more this gen (that's 1 handheld and 1 console. Could possibly be as high as 25M, but I severely doubt that). That puts it on 40-50M.

Call of Duty should be at 40M with just Modern Warfare 2, and as CoD is being released very oftenly, I believe that the following ones should put it over 50M.

I have no doubt that if a GTA was released as often as a Call of Duty, GTA would win.

But it isn't.

I say the Wii sport series(Wii Sports Japan + Wii Fit + Wii Sports: Resort).
But Call of Duty also has a big shot, also in the Call of duty franchise are you also counting Call of Duty 2 and 3 in the totals?

Yes, I count all of them.

I wouldn't dismiss the Brain Series though... If another game comes out (in the Big Brain series) the series could pass 60M for this gen.

For a comparison, the best selling franchises last gen were

Grand Theft Auto - 51.92M

Pokemon - 40.34M

Total Mario - 57.09M

That is VGChartz LONGEST review. And it's NOT Cute Kitten DS

Call of Duty. Does anyone know who's making the next COD after Modern Warfare 2? I heard that Activision was handing over COD development exclusively to Infinity Ward but I might be wrong, I don't want to see Treyarch making any more COD games.

I'm going to go with Mario racers. Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart DS are beasts and they're still going strong.

Call of duty! Call of duty 4 will have a huge boost and sell an extra 4 million copies this week

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

It will go back and forth between Infinity Ward and Treyarch.

Treyarch is a good developer but they've had 2 problems work against them.
1. CoD3 only had an 11 month development schedule (this new leap frog system will give each developer 24 months per game).
2. CoDWaW was set in WWII (you can thank Activision for that one).

The rEVOLution is not being televised

The Sims will be the best selling franchise this generation, DUH! It will probably sell like over 100 millions copies this generation.

1st = COD
2nd = GTA (If they get 3 games out on PS360 this gen)
3rd = Mario Platformers

 Yeah, about that - can you find some info proving this? The only valid info about the Sims I have found was 80M sold at the end of 05 (but that was a bit doubtable as well).

And I sincerely doubt 100M for The Sims.

So, overall - show me some proof, and I'll consider adding it.

And The Sims 3 is coming in a couple of months, so yeah, it has a great chance of selling 100 millions copies during this generation.
