Forums - Nintendo - Is there something wrong with my Wii?

I knocked mine over a bunch of times and it made loud noises and would occasionally refuse to read a disc.

I put it on its side (so I wouldn't knock it over any more) and I haven't had a problem with it since, but it still makes some noises.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I had the same problem, it's likely your disc drive is dying.

I hear strange noises on occasion with various games -- mostly SSBB.
I get an occasional read error on some games -- which goes away as soon as I clean the disk.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I generally only have this problem at all with SSBB as well. I really hear my Wii fighting to keep that game running smoothly, not to mention disk errors. My Wii did not seem to like Star Wars: TFU much either, though luckily, neither did I.

I hear Nintendo is selling cleaning discs in NA now. You could look into getting one of those, might clear things up.

My Wii was in repair during chistmas, where they changed the disc drive. Propably broke down due to my youngest kid pulling it down to floor (they couldn't prove anything, so it went to warranty). Originally i thought it was due to the kid trying to put a stack of discs inside the machine. Now the new drive is very quiet, i believe it's quieter than the original when i bought the system.

The old drive made some strange noise every once and awhile, with some games it' noisier than others. I had once a disc reading error with Strikers, which went away when i let the disc to cool down.

Same thing here, I know sooner or later my Wii will need to be fixed but actually I'm completely addicted with Call of Duty Online and I cannot even imagine passing a single day without playing it! (Over 2 days online playing since Christmas....)

They are your friends.

Just say you are having issues with Brawl and loud sounds from your Wii and they wil repair it for free.

I had to send in my launch Wii in 3 times before it finally got fixed (issues with Brawl) but I got a free Classic Controller out of it because I had to send it in so many times.
