Forums - Gaming - Does anyone with 1080p tv have issues with Wiis graphics?

Hmm...I play halo every day but single player I havent played in months. I'll have to replay few halo's single player levels...and specifically look for frame rate issues. I assume when you fight 2 of those giant spider things is when they will most likely happen.

I don't know why but I've never had issues with frame rate in 360 games...my TV does have the 120 HZ auto smothing thinggy...so that may help.

Like some games have noticable dips...Ninja Gaiden 2, Too human...even Sonic Unleashed. But I dont mind it...

Yeah, Im using component lol. I have an HDMI cable sitting next to the wii...for good luck.

Resolution I can get around...its things like draw distance, character models, animations...

Try Super Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime 3.  I have a 360 and a Wii, and aside from my PC I think that Super Mario Galaxy is my best looking game.  I also think Metroid Prime 3 is as good looking as Halo 3 (which also isn't HD).  Metroid Prime 3 is better for the fact that the controls are far, far better and the framerate is also far, far better.

I played both and both are very good looking. Like I said, nintendo games are usually a cut above the rest...

Not too sure if I agree about the framerate of MP vs Halo 3 though. Halo 3's graphics aren't mindblowing by any means but it does 4 player split screen and the framerate is fixed at 30 fps...and it never dips. I don't know what MP3 frame rate is though...

Go into the Wii settings menu and change the format to 480p HDTV/EDTV and turn on 16:9 Widescreen. It will look a lot better.

50" samsung 1080p here and Wii games look much better than on an SDTV, the upgrade to progressive and widescreen helped but my TV seems to have a pretty good upscaler in it too.

Yeah, the upscaler on my TV is pretty good for wii games. Resolution is not so much of an issue for me...

The animations, models and effects  however...they become really visible on a large TV. Like again, take a look at Sonic Unleashed (I'm aware there are better looking games, but I played this on the Wii this weekend so its fresh in my mind plus a lot of reviews praise this games graphics)...

On the ps360 look at the animation and close up textures of his fur when he enters the stage and does the wolf scream (starts at 28 seconds in)

Now on the wii

Its a small difference I know but these things are everywhere...and then imagine seeing them on a 60+ inch TV.

*Edit - after seeing the videos on the page side by side, I have to say that its impossible to see the difference I see on my TV on these youtube vids...

I don't have issues with Wii graphics of course my 1080p set is only 32 inches.

Well MK Wii, MP3, SMG looks great on my 1080p Projector with 108'' screen, not as good as my PS360 games but that's expected.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

Well, to start Metroid's framerate is always 60fps.

And to finish: I've played a lot of 8 player Halo 3 matches online (with only one player) and the framerate clearly drops into the 20s at times.  The main reason it is a problem is because it affects control even more than the viewed framerate.

It seems like your overall point, that there exist good looking Wii games but also bad looking ones is valid.  And it's a matter of taste which ones are good and which ones are bad.  I don't hold my Xbox 360 to the same standard as my PC because the Xbox 360 is so very weak in comparison.

You can't look at online component for a frames per second measurement. When you have up to 16 people blowing stuff up and 5 vehicles shooting left and right the framerate will drop, not to mention the lag that can be confused with bad frame rate.

When I played Super Street Fighter 2 HD last week, there were a few matches I was literally getting 5 frames per second online...cause my roomate was seeding some serious torrents. Halo is no different...

I guarantee you that Metroid Prime 3 would not run at 60 FPS if it had a multiplayer deathmatch component to it.

Otherwise you are correct...after playing Crysis 2 weeks ago for the first time(bought a vide card that can finally handle it), I will never ever post in threads "Gears 2 vs Uncharted...best grafx eva?"

I really hope one of these newer games...Conduit maybe...totally takes the Wii to the new level visually. While it may be just me, from all the posts happy wii and HD tv owners have made here...but I find it quite stale visually and knowing that, hurts my experience when I do play games on it.

I have a 55" 1080p TV and I have absolutely no issue with the Wii's graphics.
Perhaps going back to games like Fire Emblem, I will be surprised for several seconds that the characters have no face for example, but as soon as I'm in the game, this effect disappears completely.
Same thing on handheld. Same thing on HD consles actually.
I have seen no game that looks better than any SD movie I saw on DVD.
Actually, the best graphics I've ever seen on consoles are the Wii menu, they're appealing.

Then again, if I was stupid enough to buy twice the same game on the Wii and an HD console, I would surely play the Wii version first, so that when I beat it, I can see if HD and the game itself are enough to make me play it again.

96cm LCD 1080p and Wii graphics are good enough
