Solid Snake
Hpow can it be a third party mascot?
You cannot use Solid Snake or any Final Fantasy VII character.

It obviously used to be Crash Bandicoot but that was a decade ago and those days are over. Then it seemed to be Snake despite being third party but he's been in at least one MGS for the Gamecube as well as being in SSBB and maybe eventually another game on a different console so it can't be him.
Kratos would be an obvious choice since his character is widely known in the gaming community, games sell very well and also exclusive. The violence though makes it hard to make him the face of your company if you're trying to reach out to a wide demographic. Gran Turismo has been their most popular franchise over the years by far but it's still limited in demographic since not everybody likes racing and a car doesn't seem that iconic unless we're talking about KIT(?).
Sackboy is obviously a very new character and who knows where he goes from here. So that makes it hard to consider him the face so soon but maybe in the future after a sequel or two and maybe a PSP title.
So for now, I'd have to say nobody. That would be my vote if allowed. Then followed by Sackboy, GT logo then Kratos. However I don't see Sony ever having a character like Mario or as popular that can be utilized as much in different games. Sony doesn't seem interested in marketing a character like that. Crash would have been the closest to that.
I'll come up with something better eventually...
Snake is out of the question because Sony doesn't own the IP, the franchise could go multiplat at any time..and having a mascot that cheers for both teams makes absolutely no sense. Also, considering an MGS has appeared on both Nintendo and MS consoles (wasn't there one on the original XBOX?), Snake flat out isn't possible.
Kratos is out of the question because for all intents and purposes we should believe that we will never see him again after God of War 3 - the franchise was made to be a trilogy. As far as I know, we aren't getting a 4th..and you can't have a mascot that is only a mascot and who never appears in any new games.
Sackboy would be perfect, except..does Sony own the IP? If so, this may work..I'd like to see Sony purchase Media Molecule anyway. Sackboy is the perfect mascot who transcends both gender and age.
'Random Gran Turismo Driver' is a nay. It just doesn't work. Gran Turismo is a brand-defining game, people instantly think of PlayStation when they hear of Gran Turismo, but there is no character. There is no personality, no pep, no attitude or character whatsoever.
Drake, who wasn't mentioned, is also a possibility. I haven't looked it up, but as far as I know this game could go on forever - I don't think it's set to be a trilogy or anything. And almost everyone who played Uncharted: Drake's Fortune would agree - the game is great. The character is witty, funny, good looking, full of character. His adventures, much like some of the more 'cartoony' characters, are epic adventures that the player wishes they could be a part of. We'll have to see where Uncharted 2 goes, and if a 3rd is planned..but if 2 goes well, why not?
So my vote(s)?
Sackboy
Drake
Sorry I have 2..but I think I explained my decisions well enough to warrant them.
Sad thing about it is.. this dont matter Sony already said they are using Sac boy as their Icon. Stangley it works I guess. The problem with the OP is that half those charicters are not first party Sony titles to use. Snake even had games on the original Xbox, gamecube, and now he is in SSBB. No way you could use him.

Simple answer...
No.
You are aware its a multiplatform title now, right?
Yeah, Sackboy seems perfect. He transcends gender and age. He grows with the psn community, and he even transcends his own game merely by dressing him up as Snake or Kratos or a Helgan :D

i defend snake because he's been the defining playstation character for over 10 years. there's no other character at the moment who has done that.
