PS3 2009 is going to be a strong year for PS3.
However I dont see a price drop happening until late in the year. The PS2 b/c is new to me dunno how much truth there is to that.

They need to rely on its exclusives (market the damn good too not like LBP),market the PS3 as a fucking gaming console NOT a media center, and finally kill the PS2.

If SONY makes smart decisions this year they can get some good marketshare and get back in the competition. If they fail this year again its all over for PS3 and wait for the PS4.

EDIT - Sony fans please stop saying "Year of the PS3" its fucking annoying and its failed to reach expectations each year. Let SONY have a great year and leave it at that.

We've had the same thread for 2 years now.

Yes, and it's been making me sick for 1.5 years, so I guess a generic "fanboys make me sick" comment here would be moot.

Instead I will say that everything stated in the OP was stated better in the years previous "2008 will be the year of the PS3" thread.

We all saw how that turned out for Sony, didn't we. At least we got the best Sony game last year on the PS2, so we didn't have to actually upgrade.

I mean, if Persona 4 was on the PS3...sadly, I'm not sure how much pull LBP was ever gonna have with my crowd.

The fact of the matter is, some Sony fan is gonna say that whatever year it currently happens to be, absolutely will be the year of the PS3, because of a bunch of new games coming out.

Please. Most of those games are vastly overplayed as it stands, and frankly, there comes a time when the general public just makes up their minds about something, and no matter what you do, you'll never be able to change that perception. RE4, afterall, was late in the gamecubes lifecycle. Pretending that "lineups" matter at this late date is amazingly short sighted. Marquee games have been released, with the exception of maybe a GT and a Zelda hitting late in the cycle, and by then you're just dusting up loyalists.

It's not too late for Sony, but it soon will be. They need some headway behind this pricecut, and they need to be 299 by next holiday season or you can forget the dream.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

See what this has started, if you are going to bash the OP's opinion, why the hell post?
@Squilliam
Because, nexflix movies just moves SOOOO many 360's right?

Holy shit, you attracted all the non-Sony fans with that title, haha.

I think Sony will have a good year. Let's just put in that way. Good luck in this thread buddy, hehe.

Sony will close the gap between the 360 and PS3 but the PS3 wont slip into 2nd till 2010.

PC gaming is better than console gaming. Always.     We are Anonymous, We are Legion    Kick-ass interview   Great Flash Series Here    Anime Ratings     Make and Play Please

Maybe I shouldnt have put the Note if you dont like sony stay out :S that just seemed to attract alot more people who actually missed the point. I didnt mean that the PS3 was going to triumph and destroy the wii I meant that by dominating it would be outselling the 360 for the most of year and even cut the lead down considerably

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi
