Forums - Sales - Hope for Valkyria Chronicles?

Well if VC isn't widely available in shops, that means Sega didn't anticipate huge demand for this game. That means the game probably didn't have to sell a huge amount to make a profit.

The graphics are amazing because of the art direction but not technically brilliant. This suggests that VC didn't have a huge budget.

Hopefully we will see a sequel to this epic game, but I think SoA 2 is next (which is just as good ).

its at 320K

which is extremely good for a SRPJ not named Fire emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics

It might have been good at one time, but I doubt they even break even on those kind of sales in this day and age.

Why would they bother with a 360 port? It's too much work, and it won't sell well. It'll probably cost more to port than they will earn back from 360 sales, which will be even lower than PS3 sales, because it's a port.

Nah, they might as well just leave this one and concentrate on Yakuza.

Well, presumably they thought it was worth developing in the first place, and that cost a lot more than a port would. Ports do tend to sell less, and the 360 is weak in this game's primary market, but it's also got a lot bigger install base and multiplatform games usually sell better on it. If they can potentially double their return by investing much less than double their money, I don't see why they wouldn't.

I still have to buy this game!

Unfortunately this game never got the sales it seems like it deserved. Probably a bad time of year to release it. I held of getting the JP release until the English language version came out, but by then I was so busy with all the other big releases that I only got around to buying it today. Funny thing is, it was in stock in every store I went to, and not discounted in any. Had to pay the full price. This is in Asia though, so probably not the same elsewhere.

I see a copy every once in a while at some stores, but I never see a used copy. (which is good)

I expect the DLC to do very well! The people who have bought the game are the hardcore owners and I think that we will eat up the DLC.

I think the title can reach 400k before it's all said and done. I hope Sega sends more copies out to retailers!

It's coming out in Japan in april, I believe, in an enhanced edition, which should help it a bit. But I really hope this game will pick up a bit in sales, it derserves so much more than it has got by now.

Valkyria Chronicles is not even good, it's an okay sRPG with boring story and broken gameplay mechanics (the game is abolutely unbalanced) I think it's already got the sales it deserves.

Yes, the cheaper edition is releasing in March (which will be ~$35) with the anime releasing in April. It should give the game another 15-20k in sales. I think it'll do well because sales jumped up a lot last week.

@ Rei

And you are in the minority with those feelings, but I the game is very balanced. You are not too powerful and the enemy keeps you in check.

well, Sony's inhouse animation studio A-1 Pictures is doing an anime for VC, which begins airing in April in Japan, so I guess it's not "all said and done" in terms of this games sales

tastes are different and it's a given not everyone will like a game other people hold in high regards, but of the people (that played the game)I heard talking about VC you seem to be in the minority with your opinion
