Forums - PC - Anybody try the Windows 7 Beta yet?

wow, that those three installations were a doozy. Okay first off if you use a wired connection for your internet be prepared for a longer installation(windows 7 almost supports every wired connection adapter). It takes a long time because windows 7 searches for drivers and downloads them then installs them. For those interested on upgrading you will have to wait for a long time a couple of hours to be exact.

Now that i got it installed i am checking if all my apps works, and so far they do except for hamchi :(. Also my antivirus didnt work( kaspersky internet security 2009) so i have to install a new one. So far I only found three antivirus software that support windows 7 avg, kasperky, and norton. these are the links to them.

http://www.kaspersky.com/windows7

http://www.symantec.com/norton/beta/register.jsp?pvid=n3603beta

I will try and explore the new features and will tell you the performance compared to vista x64.

any questions be sure to ask :)

Use any torrent site. Currently I'm getting some 200 kB/s for the 32-bit version.

I expect great things from Windows 7, every other Windows os is good and every other is horrible. Vista was/is atrocious (just look at adoption rates, especially among gamers, despite Vista being touted as the "gaming windows") so Win 7 should be awesome!

This. It's actually legal, because MS aren't limiting the key use or charging for it.

By the way, your key isn't special. Put it into a search engine and you'll see thousands of others got the same one.

I would just like a simple OS to come out of M$, not something that tries to do everything for you, just give me the basics and i will do the rest. Maybe i'm just being nostalgic about dos again lol.

I loved XP, hated Vista.
Google should make an OS

They've made already. It's called Android and it's for cell phones. I also read some time ago it's not very hard to get it to work on PCs as well so I suppose they might actually be up to something. Anyway, Android is based on Linux and thus I suppose a PC version would actually be Linux... So you might actually take any Linux if Android ever gets released on the PC as well.

I'm using it now, the only problem I'm encountering is that when trying to add a new folder to the "all users" section of the all programs menu. When i try i get locked out, the folder gets created but it won't allow me to rename it.

edit: I can still do so with my personal user's start menu, just not all users. I send a report to MS about it, hoepfully it'll be fixed by the time 7 hits retail.

I tried installing it Friday, but it froze during unpacking at 97%.

Five times.
