I'm not sure if it will. The kinds of people who are getting the Wii right now probably wouldn't want or need to upgrade to another one, other than the (few) hardcore gamers that are left.

That´s exactly what I think. But if they pull something like the wiimote and wii fit next gen, maybe people upgrade, but I don´t think is likelly.

That is why the Wii will be on the market for a long time before the next Wii comes out. I expect it to be out after 2012 which will make people hungry and Nintendo will surely have something new that allot of people would want.

I'd imagine the novelty will have worn off by then for non-gamers. Nintendo will have to do something else to make people buy the next console, a simple upgrade in graphics won't be enough.

Since Wii is the fastest selling console ever it will be difficult for any console to trumph it's success. The Wii brand is currently the biggest in gaming though, and anything bearing the name Wii will sell in millions, just like it is with Playstation.

It will be interesting to watch what Nintendo does next generation. The success of their next platform will be almost entirely due to the marketing moves and innovations they come up with.
