@Munkeh: So, it's a tag too. Thanks.

I put my question badly. I was meaning, that if you want to go to the PSN store, you just select PSN store or if you want to send a message to a friend, you just select the message board equivalent or you want to browse the web you just select the web browser, without going to a menu that has PSN/online options available, like you do with the 360 dashboard.

I had the same discussion on a different forum once, but i didn't get an answer to what i was asking.

I assume you have seen the XMB?

So once you go to your profile on the PS3, you should auto log on to PSN, and the you just go to the right, past the game section of the XMB, and then there are the network and friends categories where you can send messages or access the PSN store

@Munkeh: Yeah, i know how XMB works. I'm asking about PS3, since it's the only console i don't have personal experience about.

You don't log in automatically when you turn the console on?

@Munkeh&papflesje: So... You don't have the online features available unless you go online through the XMB?

@OkeyDokey: Ehh... It's far from limited. It's better featured than Live or PSN.

Does anyone really use the News and Weather Channels, though? Or the Voting and Mii Contests for that matter...

I haven't experinced XBL, but what I like about PSN is that it tells you when a friend logs on or off and you can then just press the Home button to see what they're playing and send messages all without ever leaving the game. So if you get a message in the middle of playing, you can just pause it and reply straight away.

Another thing that Wii is lacking is a proper trophy/achievement system.

@ your above question

Yes you can set it to sign in automatically or otherwise, and you can sign in and out at any time via the the Home button.

You can but you don't have to. It's defined by a setting. Check a box and you have auto-logic; leave it unchecked and you won't auto-login.

Wii Online: Is garbage. Not enough games support it, and of the ones that do, the lag is horrible.

Trollish bullshit. Mario Kart Wii says hello.

By the way, the PS3 has no games, all 360s RROD within a week from purchase and PC gamers upgrade their systems every week to play the latest games.

Wii's friend code system, is just awful - a "Friend Code" channel for exchanging Friend Codes would be really appreciated, and it's not hard to develop i believe

about lag, games like Dragon Budokai Tenkaichi 3 have awful lag, where Honor Heroes 2 has awesome online, in Ps3/Xbox levels in my opinion, has no lag at all and is awesome

also, it's nice to see some Wii games start to get Dlc like Samba de Amigo, Rock Band and some WiiWare titles, dlc can also be stored in SD card from what i know

Ps3 online is great of course, the European PSN sucks, but the American has so many DLC, themes, demos and so on, which is great

some Ps3 have lag online as well, but most are fine, never tried Xbox360 online

if you want online in order to meet people online PSN is the best

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

My personal experience with both PSN and Xbox Live is that for long distance play Xbox Live is a lot more liveable for some reason. I also get a funny error about 50% of the time when trying to send a message on PSN, but I won't count it against anything as I haven't heard anyone else having the same issue.

So for New Zealand I would say that Xbox Live is probably the superior service.

Tease.

@OkeyDokey: Usually my most used Wii Channel is the forecast channel. It's without a doubt easiest and fastest way to get tomorrows/five days forecast.
And notice the talk was about the features, not about who use some specific feature and who doesn't. The same as you said about News and Forecast Channels, can be said about trophies, achievements and gamerscore just as well by someone who doesn't see the need for them.

@Zkuq&OkeyDokey: And when it's set to auto log-in, how does the console know who is playing it? You start the game, select your own save file and go play it online? And my wife can do the same, she doesn't need to log my account out or anything and she would be using her own in the game, just like playing the game offline with her save file?

@bd:

It's a specific account that logs in then. You can log out of the account then to switch to your wife's account.

Or do what other people do. Just go online with a game, and it'll ask you to log-in, giving you a log-in screen.

@papflesje: Thanks. That's what i was after.
So if i want to use the console in a way that i can use its online features on startup, my wife, or me, needs to do logging in and out if she/me wants to use her/my online features? Or i/she need to log in when the console starts up?
