Forums - Sales - If HAZE was not a PS3 exclusive would free radical be in trouble today ?

it could turn out to be a better game if developed on xbox360, cos xbox360 game developing platform is easier to use. and most shooters would be well on xbox360. I think if haze got released on both platform it could do at least 1 million on xbox360.

It would have sold about the same on the 360, but that would only cover the cost of making an extra version, so wouldnt really be worth it

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

The game lacked the level of excellence expected. Sure it might have picked up some additional sales on 360 but really, would a mediocre/average FPS do that well on a platform that already has plenty of very good FPS?

Sadly FR just didn't deliver with this game, and seemed to fail with the jump to HD level graphics at the same time technically. Pity, but that's the way it goes.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

If it was also on PC then it would of sold better. Stranglehold wasn't very good either, but it managed to break a million with PC/360, so I do think sales would of been a little higher. But , overall, I'm not sure how much more helpful it could of been because "what if." If MGS4 it could of sold 15 million copies total: Is that statement true? No, because mgs4 never came out for 360, 'what ifs' mean nothing.

No, MGS4 on 360 would not sell 10 million copies...

There's little demand for it. Even the 360 fanboys who still insist it is coming to 360 add "but I won't get it" at the end of their posts.

Haze, on the other hand, would probably sell better on 360. Sure, it's a mediocre FPS, but it's an FPS. It would still have sold badly. Hell, on PC it would have sold badly too. It would have sold badly on Wii, PS2, PS1, SNES, you name it. Haze was just destined to sell badly. And for good reason. Hell, it didn't deserve 600k sales. A lot of far superior games have sold less than that (Valkyria Chronicles, as I said, is one of them)

Sad, really, because I thought Second Sight was awesome. But making something like Haze is inexcusable. The only people I could forgive for making a game of that quality are Santa Monica, Insomniac, Naughty Dog and maybe Blizzard. Not Team ICO, because they make one game in four years, and I'm sure as hell not waiting eight years for a great Team ICO game.

Free Radical' should ask themselves why HAZE dose not become like other ps3 exclusives games like MGS4, Resistance 2 and others.

you can't sale a terrible game on ps3, but others maybe:P

Let's see:

it was heavily advertised and debuted at fps starved platform yet it failed

Would it sale better if it didn't receive advertising support from Sony and the internet hype from exclusive status but go into other platforms with established mammoth FPS franchises ?

I think It would have bombed even harder.

Well, the 360 did have a much bigger market share at the time which would have helped Haze. But still, as others have said, a bad game is a bad game. It only could have sold well like that on the wii :)

Not really... It wasn't Sony who was developing the crappy game. So it's a solid "NO F*CKING WAY!"

It was a bad game so it would have taken a lot for it not to flop anyway.

Had the game not sucked, it would have done better on the PS3. Sony fans have always been the picky bunch when it comes to games.

I think there was more going on behind the curtain than just some overdeveloped average game. And the box art, sheesh, what a horrible picture.
