I think you've missed MGS.

I would say Tetris or Pacman.
But then I'm strange.

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

World of Warcraft... the whole series did pretty well every where

No Gran Tourismo?

Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec:

Final Fantasy VII:

Region Japan America Others Total
Total Sales 3.93m 3.09m 2.70m 9.72m

Around the Network

Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy, MGS

Personally, I'd say that that proves that it's had worldwide appeal. When checking if they actually have worldwide appeal now, we'd have to wait for GT5 and FFXIII. Not that I doubt they still do, just saying.

What about SSB? Wii series?

It looks like you're going for games with similar sales in all three "regions," but calling that worldwide appeal wouldn't make sense to me. Japan is a much smaller market than America/Others, so if a game sells anywhere close to as many copies there as it does in the west, it appeals more to the Japanese than anywhere else (see Final Fantasy, Pokemon, 2D Mario, NDS, etc).

It still appeals WW, just more to the Japanese market
