@Phalanx,
Funny enough I thought of that commercial when he made the comment, apparently you are just a bit meaner than I am =P

No one has ever accused me of being nice...
lol

Here's my dilemna. Normally, when a person with three posts starts rudely attacking people while simultaneously trying their damndest to bitch about the site, I'd ban them. But with ioi already being in the thick of things, I'd hate to cut off a convo that the big cheese himself is in on...
I think I'll play it safe and flip a coin *searches pockets* hm... it would seem that I'm broke. Well now that I'm poor and bitter, I'll just go ahead and ban them!
I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.
Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.
Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
From the look of things, after "Jasmine"s last post, "she" decided to hit the road, indicating that "she" realized the ruse was up. Very observant ioi.
No prob ioi. I hope jasmine continues to entertain you.

VGChartz is well beyond NexGen. This is a site with people dedicted to sales. They recently stated they're getting as close as within the NPD margin of error.
On the other hand, if you do some easy "research" (I use the term loosely), you'll see NexGen is run by a college student who makes start up websites in his spare time. If you look, he's made, and is currently making, loads of websites and stuff while trying to live a life.
That's why his sales suck. (I also suspect he's a fanboy of some sort).
Stof, are you broke because you have an MBA? J
ust kidding, I assume its from all the money you spend on games.
On a side note for the other convo, I only have to take a stat class because I have a Double Major, Physics and Engineering. Another thing, there are different branches of physics and some might require more statistical use than others.

| alpha_dk said: At my school (small elite liberal arts college, so this probably isn't that representative): Up until next year, Physics majors are only required to take Differential Equations and Linear Algebra (and anything leading up to those). Any other math is taught in the class necessary. Starting two years from now (actually trialing it next year, but it won't be required then) the department is making a special "Math for Physicists" class that will basically teach all the useful parts of the above classes along with extra math for quantum, advanced EM, etc. No Stats :-/ Then again, it is a liberal arts school - not many people in my school like applying knowledge all that much (i do though, which makes it sad when I get really into something and noone else does) |
yeah, it really depends on the school. the undergrad curriculum at my current school (i'm a grad student here) requires ALL undergrads, including non-science and non-engineering majors, to take up to quantum mechanics, math up to differential equations and linear algebra (and some more). it feels... a little too much even though i can't really argue against it.
then again, i don't know any humanities major undergrads here, so maybe the school wants them to drop out if they can't handle it. it's kind of bad for some; for pre-meds (a relatively small group), they would have easily gotten 4.0 at another college and go to the med school of their choice but here there's little "grade inflation" phenonmenon and the competition is absolutely cut-throat.
life is not always fair, i guess.
the Wii is an epidemic.
| Lingyis said: most physicists, even at the undergrad level, knows some statistics, even if they haven't taken a course in statistics, "statistical mechanics" is likely mandatory for all physics majors. and mathematical physics classes do cover some statistics. and, i don't see how the math in stat is "incredibly" simple. MBA's have horrible reputations. anybody who throws around a degree is bad enough, anybody who throws around an MBA degree is downright hilarious. i don't even see MBA as something to be proud of; it's merely something you can get a great job with. |
Sorry, I can't agree with you. The classes I'm taking is absolutely useful. Using stats to determine if certain events trigger a spurge or crash of a stock market, using hypothesis testing to make claims as to whether gun control actually has an effect in preventing crime, using optimization to work out a schedule's critical path, using financial accounting to determine if a stock is overpriced or underpriced. It's all very useful even if you don't get a great job with it.
Currently loving my Wii x2, Xbox 360 Pro & Xbox 360 Arcade, and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Limited "Cloud Black" 160GB PS3
GAMEFLY & GOOZEX FTW
I wonder if Jas really is David?
It would be hilarious if true, but sadly there is no way to prove it.
