Big budget does not make a game hardcore, or even good for that matter. There are lots of games that are awesome without having killer budgets. Thank god for that.

I do agree!

Play my LittleBigPlanet level: Mystic Runner. Thanks!

If any company wanted to scale back, why would they scale back Halo, a series where the latest instalment is easily going to cross 10 million sales?

By the way, if there are hundreds of Puzzle Quest games (I don't see why there would be, look at its sales), only a few will do well, the rest will flop. Then somebody will make a hardcore game, it will sell extremely well just because there are no hardcore games out that year, then developers see how well it sells and go back to making hardcore games.

So, no.

(Around)Two years ago we had a thread like this about 09.

It will get dry when MS will announce their new console because a lot of devs will start making a game for that console.

Hmm can they really afford that? I mean developing games now on these so called "HD" console already costs too much and very few of them have turned into profit.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I am still surprised that so many devs were making an X360 game,  the X360 who's precessor failed. Yeah there were a lot of ports of PC games like quake 4, Call of Duty 2, Condemned still it surprised me that their were so many that shifted to the X360.  I am pretty sure it will happen again with the next Xbox  who will probably get again a lot of PC ports.

What I worry most is that, in a worse case scenario, advance games production for PS3 and 360 will diminish to that of the Wii level.

Big Budget = Hardcore = Failure.

Please don't generalize like this.

Now I can't focus on the thread.

The games making business will follow closely with the movie making business.

While third party publishers do have a bit of a herd mentality, I haven’t seen any evidence that they’re complete idiots. While the success of the Wii may translate to more Wii games, and some of these Wii games will be minigame collections (and whatnot), most of these Wii games will be in genres and styles you have seen on previous consoles and developers who have been successful on the HD consoles will continue to work on those systems producing similar games to what they have done in the past.
