What is strange about Wii 3rd party sales is that we are told over and over they are great, but looking at the top 20+ every week/month you never see why except for a couple of titles. (Guitar Hero games, Carnival games, Mario and Sonic).  So I have a theory.  The Wii has such a huge amount of crap titles, at this stage in it's life it is quite amazing actually, that those titles are what make 3rd party titles sell well.  It isnt that they are selling huge numbers, but 100's of titles selling under 100,000 go un noticed except in large blocks like we have with the Wii.

I think the hate for the Wii is really from just one group - hardcore. I do like the Wii but see its success and the PS3 - and even the 360 as consoles. Yes, the Wii has the numbers, but when is someone going to do a demographic breakdown on the age of folks who buy Wiis - and who buy them for their kids only? The 360 and PS3 are much easier to track, IMHO, because you don't hear seniors, soccer and hockey moms - and nongamers talking passionately about L4D, Halo 3, Gears or LBP.

Sure, folks will always bash the ones on top - but lately, Wii fans have been going overboard talking about making the Wii the lead console for devs based purely on the amount of sales. It won't amount to a hill of beans if the demographic doesn't support said game - and the Wii is a boon to first party, but rather rough of several 3rd-party efforts.

I don't hate the wii, I just don't think its a good console, and I don't enjoy the games it has to offer. I've played Brawl, Mario Kart, and SMG for a short time.

Basically it seems all Nintendo did was re-release a gamecube with "innovative" motion controls and a new cooler design.

Sony put a lot of work into the PS3 with Blu Ray, 1080p, PSN, etc and all their work got them was billions of dollars in debt. Nintendo on the other hand half asses this gen by only adding motion conrols and is rolling in money. Even Microsoft improved a lot from last gen.

...And wi-fi, Bluetooth, SD card slot, USB ports, built-in lightgun capability, not to mention lower power consumption and noise output than its peers. Nintendo put in much more effort than people care to acknowledge.

I am a hardcore gamer, own all three systems and get get annoyed about the small amount HC games on Wii but so what?

The industry will grow and grow until your mom and sister want to play anyway..thats expanding the market and will happen no matter who outta the top three are dominating.

Games are changing and while I still play heaps of hardcore games...I play lots of casual titles when people visit and they all love the Wii.

Harcore will never die..the industry will change but that is inevitable. The Wii should still be embraced and respected for appealing to a lot more people than just the same old gamers!

I don't know about others, but Wii games suck! There are couple of games I liked, but mostly not fun.
i don't like Mario and those similar games - especially the kart game. I start hating it on Gamecube cause every time I won a race, something will say that I'm the wiener.
Drives me up the wall.

.  Coca-Cola go sell your Wii now!  You hate Mario games especially the Kart one (Mario Kart) and you started hating them on Gamecube yet you bought a Wii?  Err actually don't buy Nintendo next system eeither...there will surely be more Mario games..yes even the kart one cause I heard it sells a little (13 Million on Wii at last count).

As for PN5...it sold badly on GCN and we won't probably ever see a sequel so another reason to sell your wii right there!.  Lets hope MS and Sony never buy Nintendo because I have a feeling if they do we will see even more of that Kart Game!  Oh yeah and nice nod to Zack & Wiki...Anything particular in that title that garners an OK status from you?  What a priveledge!.
