Forums - Gaming - Is Super Smash Bros Brawl the most overrated fighting game of all time?

Nah, with that much amount in fan service in the game, a fleshed out single player experience, and oodles and oodles of replayability, I'd say that it's a game that delivered on its promises.

Well, I do have two small gripes... one would be tripping and I just wished they did more with the online aspect of the game. Maybe next time...

Oh! Knuckles and Ridley need to be in the next one.

No, one of the best. Thats why it sold over 8 million copies in nine months. Thanks for asking.

I'd go as far as to say that Brawl is one of the most overrated games of all time regardless of genre. I think that if you removed the Nintendo characters and replaced them with stick figures the sales would drop by 95% and the review scores would drop below 80%. I just don't understand the appeal of the franchise at all, but then again, I never really liked beat 'em up games all that much.

 LOL!!!!!

EDIT: id would say that if GOW was NOT a sony franchise you probably wouldnt care about it as much

I don't like Sony and I criticize them often. I also dislike the PS3 and I criticize it often. My enjoyment of GoW has nothing to do with brand name and everything to do with the highly enjoyable combat.

I find no difficulty understanding how someone who likes GOW would dislike SSBB and not understand or appreciate it. I feel exactly the same way, only in reverse.

Brawl is not overrated.

I would actually call the whole Smash Bros. series underrated. They really changed the whole fighter formula, and for the better. I personally find them so much more fun than the traditional fighter.

If it wasn't for Smash, I would have quit fighting games after Street Fighter 2.

 100% Agree with this.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

okay i hate nintendo, and think its kind of over-rated...but most over-rated all time? hell no

I find super smash quite innovative and underrated, really.

Yeah, I finally have a sig.

Overhyped? Yes. For so many reasons. 60 character roster expected, characters that wasn't obviously gonna be playable were expected too. (Who the fuck thought Cloud had a chance in the first place? I don't mean any disrespect for the character but seriously...) etc etc

Overrated? Definitely no. You'd be even laughed at for liking Brawl, and I've seen it happened everywhere :|

The game deserves the high ratings. I waited to get my reserved copy from 9:15 PM until it opened, in the cold, while sick, to get the game as fast as possible. It was so worth it and I had a lot of fun, and still play it sometimes :)

Dead or Alive is Overrated, Not SSBB.
