I think that cigarettes/ what-have-you should have an extreme tax placed on them so we will dissuade people from smoking while simultaneously helping the government make money from those who continue their habit.

Ban it? If you're going to do that, might as well ban joy and happiness as well.

Laws are already quite strict in the UK, but I'm not a smoker so I'm not bothered.

Advertising tobacco should be banned yes. Im all for that

I don't think it should be banned but I think people should advertise the bad effects of smoking.

Tobacco - Nah, there is already enough information out there about it to make an informed decision. It does cause a lot of problems for the healthcare system though.

Marijuana - Laws need to be completely reevaluated since they are out of sync with any scientific basis for why the drug should be illegal. Alcohol is far more dangerous than marijuana.

Other narcotics you smoke - Laws are fine for the most part.

Agreed. But we banned that in the 20's and look what happened. "Say hello to my little friend" the mafia.

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

They shouldn't be able to advertise at all, and on the packs it should say "Will Kill You".

True, but I can't pick on the smokers too much, I used to be a smoker too, but it was mostly because I was trying to fit in with everyone at college lol  I think most smokers are like that, it's an image thing.  Most will say that it's because they need it to deal with life, but smoking actually makes your more anxious and depressed, like alcohol, so, really, if you want to deal with life, find something else to take the edge off.  Just my opinion, it's cool if you don't agree.

i don't think there should be more restrictions or banned people should have the rite to do wat they want people should keep it real though if there not into smoking they shouldn't do it b/c every1 else is or to fit in if thoose people aren't accepting u b/c u don't smoke or b/c u think smoking is bad then they don't deserve to be ur friend i don't think it should be banned b/c kids that grow now go through school programs like DARE and so everybody shoud know the ill effects by now and if they don't care about the effects then they deserve them if any thing all schools need to get more anti drug programs

Well, in the UK there are already very, very strict laws on smoking. No smoking in public places (this includes TV studios, bus stops, train stations), huge health warnings on packets (now accompanied by graphic images, I believe), hidden behind counter, no advertising, etc.

I agree with those. What I don't agree with is the fact that they're doing this with one hand, yet introducing 24 hour drinking licenses with the other. Drinking has far more detrimental affects to crime and local environment than smoking.

Also, for people who say shit along the lines of "the Government will change their minds when they realise that tobacco brings in too much money", may I just point out that tobacco duty brings in a mere £7.8 billion a year, that's 1.6% of the government's total income. My source? HM Treasury

I think every drug should be legal. Suicide booths should exist as well. Everyone has the right to stop their own life in whatever way they want it.
