I'd say the PS3 sales will stay up for at least 1 week, maybe 2. (as the PS3 experience is shared, people will see the 'lure' of the PS3)

if you've payed attention to japanese sales you would know that first day sales are generally 2/3 of the sales for an entire week. For example VF5 sold 32,500 on day 1 and 50,000 for the week, Fire Emblem for wii sold 50,000 on day 1, and 74,000 for the week. 120,000 sounds like a huge number to sell in 1 day to us, but in Japan it happens all the time. Second and third week sales will only be a fraction of that.
currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X
That's true, you should see the number of people waiting in line during a release day. I was surprised that about 200 people lined up outside the local Target here in the US for the Wii's launch, but in Japan the lines could no doubt number over a thousand people for larger stores. Maybe more, a place like Yodobashi-Umeda (right next to a train station no less) could certainly hold them. Unless they sell out, most people who want one can probably get one.
Have we heard anything about the hardware sales? The bundles seems not to be selling so well, but I mean if it is cheaper to buy a PS3 + the game than the bundle then the bundle isn't your first pick. But great first day sales, let see if the game has some legs. EDIT: By the way why doesn't washimul comment on that he was a little bit wrong on the numbers...but he is a troll so that might be the reason.
Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!
Around 180,000 for Gundam Musou for the first week. 「ガンダム無双」が予報をはるかに上回る18万本以上を販売してトップに立ちました。 http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20070306-00000006-maia-game
