Forums - Sales - Sales After XBox 360 Pricecut

Lafiel: Good to know. I will try to avoid getting on the Wii-owners badside. I just see alot of thread having to do with the PS3 in some form or another. Same story different site. PS3 owners trying in vain to defend the purchase of thier console. I will own all 3 consoles by Christmas 2008. I already own a 360, but I waited till there were good games before I got it. Now I am waiting for MarioKart to buy a Wii and the PS3 to hit $399.99: I never spend over $400.00 on a console. That was as high as I was willing to go for the 360, and with PS3 sales the way they are, Sony's gonna have to keep dropping that MSRP to compete. Microsofts is kind of caught in the middle. They need to drastically drop that price before they lose any more marketshare to the Wii...

I was out today at a couple of stores future shop its like best buy and i was at wal-mart, this is in canada, both stores had plenty of 360`s on display, but wal-mart only dropped thgeir price by $10 and comes with only Forza 2, the bundle was priced at $490. While Future shop had dropped it's price by $100 down to $400 and comes with Forza2 and Splinter cell.

Both stores had zero displays of any price drop and no price was even in sight at either store, you would of had to read their flyer to know of the price.

The canadian dollar is also about the exact same as the USD now and we are still getting screwed on everything at all our stores :(

The stores i went to were also in a large town, just outside Toronto.

I will give you my idea about the volume of XBox 360 sales for next week. I don't think the effect will be as large as the PS3 price cut. The pricecuts on Core and Elite are so small I don't think they will have any significant effect at all and the $50 drop on the Premium might give them 10-20k extra sales for the week. Most likely I see XBox 360 selling 50-55k next week, and probably the same amount the next week with the release of Madden. With a bit of luck they will stay up or close to 50k until Halo 3 launches.

Well, it'd be impossible to replicate the TRIPLING of PS3 sales, simply because PS3 sales were so astoundingly low (18k at one point) and it was a larger price cut, with a limit supply of "discounted systems".

I would say a more reasonable assumption would be the 360 price cut was just as successful if it tracks better then the PS3's sales after the cut in UNITS and not %.

Freedom is a message everyone can embrace!

Sales will pick up ,but 20 dollars on the Core/Elite and 50 on the Premium is a verysmall price drop .We shouldnt expect miracles .Maybe one strong first week and later stabilize around something more than prior to the price cut but not enourmously .Judging for the amazon effect it has produced much less impact than the PS3 one .

I think there will be an increase in sales, but not as drastic as the PS3's increase was.

My reasoning is that I don't think there were tons of people holding out on buying a 360 until there was a price drop.

I'm a PS3 owner, but a lot of 360 owners I know bought it within the last 6 months or so because the game lineup is looking good. They didn't mind plunking down $399 at the time, so like I said I don't think there were a lot of holdouts. Of course this is just my opinion, I may be wrong and there might be lots of people that were waiting just for this pricecut. :?

I'm guessing it'll get the 360 in second place again in weekly sales in NA, but still in the last spot worldwide.

THis has probably been mentioned but I find it funny that you can get a X360 cheaper than you can get a Wii right now on Amazon.

Sales might rise 10k in NA but they wont rise in JPN and wont rise in EU by much(except in UK).

@PimpDaddy:
Bring balance to the "force"?I think the gathering of Sony fans(fanboys isnt a nice word it sounds like their weird) brings balance to the "force" due to the immense popularity of the Wii on this site.
Nothing against Nintendo fans by the way.

End of 2014 Hardware Predictions (03/03/14)

PlayStation 4: 12-15million

Xbox One: 7-10 million

Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)

I'm sorry but a $50 price drop 18 months after a system has been released is a joke and an embarrasment, I certainly hope that sales do not improve dramatically after this.
