Forums - Sales - White Knight Chronicles sales

There seems to be quite the commotion over WKC first day sales. Arguments about install bases and hype and things that try to cloud the success of the game. People have been arguing that since PS3 has a higher install base then 360 in japan that WKC should have sold 2 or 3 times what a 360 jrpg, like ToV, should have done. To put this argument in perspective Tales of Symphonia 2 on wii sold 156k its first week. WKC should beat that given its 132k first day sales. That means it beat a very succesful franchise on a system with abojut 3 times the install base. Not that it matters, since both games were a success. I just wanted to show how easily arguments could be twisted.

tl;dr: everybody should just stop whining so much

in before someone twists this argument around

what'chu talking about willis?

I guess that just proves that the X360 owners buy software like crazy. Still 132K first day is really good for a new PS3 game in Japan. Could be the second biggest first week a game has ever had on the PS3 in Japan. (just needs to sell more the 208K first week)

132,000 first day sales vs 104,000 first week sales for "TALES OF vesperia" an established JRPG in japan with a huge fanbase.

If WKC hits 200k first week, its a success whether you like it or not.

mM

if it sells 200k in Japan first week I will be happy

Hopefully this will teach Square Enix that they're a bunch of morons and that they need to stop making 360-exclusive JRPGs.

oh come on, square was quite aware their games would do better on PS3 than on 360, there was obviously money thrown around for it to become exclusive.  It's quite likely they made more money  by accepting money from microsoft then the extra sales they would make on the PS3.  If they didn't think so they wouldn't have accepted the deal.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

The only exclusive SE threw to the 360 was Infinite Undiscovery, and that was funded by MS. Last Remnant is still PS3-bound, and more that likely so is Star Ocean 4.

That's three exclusives for the 360, and one exclusive for the PS3 (Versus XIII) if it even stays exclusive -.-

Ah well, FF13 is exclusive in Japan, that'll do over a million first week easily...

glad a level-5 JRPG is selling well :). But i don't think its fair to compare it to 360's JRPG sales, since PS3 has a 3-1 advantage in Japan, where the game is aimed for.
