Forums - Sony - Looks like Forza 3 will not compete with GT5 in 2009...

what u should do is question why sony is taking so long to deliver it,s flagship racing title,instead of acting like a J.A.we all know gt is the better known title and the one that really got people into tinker with their cars and really opened peoples eyes to what  was thje greatest car game for it,s time,but if GT5is anything like the prologue series then hmmmmmmmmm we will see.and for the other knucklehead don,t go knocking on forza ok give it the respect it is due it is a great game and if sony keeps up it,s attitude that it has right now then yes it will sell great as it has a great legacy but it might not b the better,everone expects it to outsell forza by a good margin but heh heh don,t get complacent like sony has.....see where it got them????but what do i know ,THE APPLE DOES NOT FALL FAR FROM THE TREE,THERE R A LOT OF DIS-ILLUSIONAL SONY REPS IN AND ABOUT HERE.just ask sony to get the game out in this timeline ok or else u and many others may become the brunt of many jokes,we forza lovers may just drive away with the crown as sony,gta5 and they tardiness may just forfeit the racing game crown to microsoft and forza 3.something to think about peace hope u had a great X-MAS ONE AND ALL.

i don't know why ppl saying oh forza will compete with GT5. one there are on different systems, its not like everyone will have to choose on wat game to buy, it depends on the system they own.

besides that you can put forza on GT level. GT has a tremondous amount of brand power. not only that there isn't a single series of games that every game sold at least 10 million copies. forza 2 struggle to sell barely half the amount any GT game sold, and it was bundle with the 360 with no additional cost. so wat makes it forza can compete with GT in the first place?

sorry but for once ppl gotta calm that fanboy attitude down and admit something on another system is better

Can I request you edit "THIS INTERVIEW IS FOUR MONTHS OLD" into the OP? It's outdated, it's been replaced with a new statement of "By Christmas 2009 in Europe", Europe being the place the games always release LAST.

Gran Turismo is far superior to Forza, and this is pretty much unanimously agreed on everywhere. It may be dethroned as the racing king, much as Halo was dethroned as the FPS king last year (I agree with Onyxmeth actually), but not for a while, and not by Forza. Halo lasted 6 years, GT has lasted 11 years to date.

@FPSrules

Admitting what is better on another system? First of all, neither games are out. And looking at reviews, Forza 2 averages 90 on metacritic. If they deliver a solid improvement on the series, the game could fall in the 93-95% range. If it does, that will be gameplay competition for GT5...

Just because GT has a stronger brand, more sponsors and is know throughout the car world and magazines doesn't make it a game that is above its gameplay.

Whichever game has better gameplay should be the definitive racing sim of this gen. While I agree that they don't really compete for the same marketshare, cars are a very competitive subject...and racing sims are no different. So I think their comparison is valid just like its valid to compare cars.

It is not that Sony don't care when GT5 will be out.  If it was possible, Sony would loved to put both GT5 and Kill Zone 2 out holiday 07 or 08.  Same case with FFXIII.  Reality is that these developers underestimated the complexity of their ambition for their target platform.   It is not that they don't have more than a 100 people working on each project simultaneously, they do.  Yet each of these projects are approaching 4 years of development time.   The only way to bring these  game out faster is to scale down the developers' ambition.

Killzone 2 was ready for November 2008. Sony delayed it because they didn't want to risk it being destroyed in sales by the competition. It is now releasing in that time of the year that nothing is ever released (except SF4 and RE5)

2 exclusive racers, simbin and forza 3. I don't get the simbin one though.

Thats a complete guess and really has nothing to do with the topic. Who knows why Killzone 2 was delayed for Feb 09...
