Forums - Nintendo - CoD: WaW Wii Will Sell 2 Million At Least

no....no it wont

Around the Network

Wow why do I bother with people like Kber. It's not like they are worth my time dealing with such ignorance. Well that's probably a nice way to put it but it's understood. Makes me wonder why the world deals with them.

But yea 2 million does seem like somewhat of a longshot but it's not impossible. Though given NPD's figures I'm guessing about 1.5 million.

Not sure about 2 mil. All I really care about is there being a COD:MW2 on Wii with more stuff.

I really think the only reason the first Modern Warfare wasn't on there was because they thought COD3 sold badly.  And if you look at its sales early on it didn't come out specatacularly but over time it sold better and better.  That's when they realized well COD can sell on the Wii.  I think a lot of devs have had this happen to them.  Just some Wii games have long selling cycles, sometimes selling better in the last 6 months compared to the first 6 months.

So I wouldn't doubt Modern Warfare 2 being on the Wii although, technically, I doubt Activision needs sales from the Wii version if they didn't want to spend money developing for it.  Sales on the PC, 360, and PS3 would be good enough for them.  Then again, like with Guitar Hero, they have opportunities to make a it a big franchise on another platform so it's this contending risks they have to go over.  WaW though seems to be selling well for them so I'm sure they'll go with the latter to expand it further on the base.  All that advertising for the Wii version of WaW doesn't seem to be in vein for them and I doubt they'll stop there.

cod3 wii actually sold better in 08 than cod3 on either HD console (I think, numbers are sketchy on that game)

edit, ok I was wrong, look it up

Wii COD3 sold 170k in 08, 360 sold 275k.

But the Wii version did outsell the PS3 version.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

You're just compelled to point out stupidity. It means you'll be doomed to a miserable life, but at least it'll make things easier on everyone else!

So for the record, when this game hits a million will it still be considered a flop? I mean NMH, Boom Blox, De Blob, ZW, hell even Wii music was called a flop on yahoo!

Once the sales come all the ppl making remarks, such as kber's just fall into obscurity. I think the argument of Wii not selling 3rd party software is way past proven wrong. Yet some ppl hold onto to that straw. I think I even read that Wii sold more third party software than either of the other home consoles.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

its already not a "flop" if it were a stand alone wii game I would wait til a million to call it a success, but consider evem I before it came out was just hoping for 750k (which I believe it has reached) then ya its a success. At 2 million, it should be consider a smashing success.

I think the problem is people always look at the HD versions sales, and then hold these to the same standard.

1. CODWaW is not following COD4 on the Wii (was not one) so there is little fanbase already established for COD (i really doupt 3 helped its cause)

2. The Wii version is technically inferior, most people who own both consoles would rather get the HD version they know they will like, then get the Wii version that could just be shovelware (what happened to me)

Yes, because it should have sold more, because the Wii has a higher install base, so there.

Nyaaaaaaah!

@Kber

Zenada.

OT:
Hard to say anything definate until Activision sends in a report, but i wouldn't be surprised if the game was at 600-650k ww at the moment. Legs have always been a trait for Wii games, so WaW should pass the platinum mark.

If i lose access to this profile as well....I'm done with this site.....You've been warned!!.....whoever you are...

Happy Wii60 user. Me and my family are a perfect example of where hardcore meets casual and together mutate into something awesome.
