46" or higher go 1080p

42" or lower go 720p (save the extra dollars you wont see much difference)

This....lol

@Slimebeast

I sit away from my HDTV, and only get closer when I'm playing a game that is dark.
720p is enough for me really. I can see the picture clearer than a regular TV.

1080p is pretty much standard for all new sets 40 inches and greater. If you find a 720p in that size it is probably an older one and should be avoided unless you get a screaming deal on it.

The difference between 480p and 720p is massive. The difference between 720p and 1080p is very noticeable, but not AS huge.

If you have a 1080p TV, there's no reason NOT to set the games to upscale to 1080p. It looks a lot better, believe me.

How much in US cost those 58 inch and 67 inch HDTVs?

Depends what you want. DLP is cheaper and best bang for the buck.

I got this for 2200 canadian tax in http://www.samsung.com/ca/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=tv&type=tv&subtype=dlp&model_cd=HL67A750A1FXZC

Isnt that a rear projection TV? Kinda old tech, and they are very fat still arent they?

I have a 1080P TV but I have my 360 set at 720p, I have noticed a definite performance hit on some titles, it's a peace of mind thing too. Visually speaking there is minimal difference and to be perfectly honest I think with this generation at least, 1080P is a con, nothing more than a Business Word that sells. The 360 and PS3 just aren't powerful enough to handle truely detailed visuals at such resolutions and run them smoothly.

I had a RB2 session with 3 other friends a couple of weeks back and 1080P definitely affected that badly. On some sections the frame rate jumped well below 30FPS and it meant for alot of missed notes.

Yeah its the old DLP projection with a twist. Samsung and mitsubishi only still make them. And Samsung makes them without a bulb, using LED light source and few other things like the 120 hz refresh rate. TV has 60,000 hours life expectancy without loss of quality supposedly.

This is actually lighter than a 65 inch plasma and its not that deep at all.

The picture on these Samsung ones, if you are within viewing angle, spanks any LCD at even higher the price range and is comparable to plasmas.

Some downsides include the viewing angle with isn't as good as plasmas and LCDs and you can't mount it on a wall because it slopes at the back.

I don't know if Samsung (or mitsubishi) sell these where you live in Sweeden but I suggest check them out if you are buying a new TV. These are nothing like the old DLPs that were out in 2003/2004. I gladly traded this plasma for that DLP and the DLP easily destroys it in picture quality.

Just let the PS3 send whatever resolution it decides. A 1080p TV is going to scale anything smaller than 1080 regardless... otherwise something like 720p would show natively up with black bars on all sides.

disolitude,

Ive never seen one of these new DLPs in electronc stores nor in advertising here in Sweden. 67 inch is crazy big, like going to the movies.

720 is cheaper, but if you walk up on one of the good 1080s at Wal~Mart, it will blow you away in comparison to anything you've seen before especially if a blu-ray movie is playing on one of them.
