By the way. For those of you trying to finish the prime series before mp3, remember that your percent complete is a percentage of total items. So if you are at 25% you are probably 60% done with the game. This should take some of the pressure off.

Now I remember the other thing I wanted to say in this thread!  :)  If you are 60% done with the game with only 25% of the items collected, you're doing a piss poor job of collecting items.    I think I finished Prime for the first time with 75%, and in the last 2, maybe 3 hours of gameplay, I wasn't collecting many new items (I'm fairly certain that the artifacts don't count toward your percentage, and the final two boss battles take a long time).

As it is... if you've got the gravity suit... you're maybe halfway?  I think that's about right.  Cause then you can do the... which leads to... yeah, you're about halfway.  :)

lol...sorry entroper...I was just pulling numbers out of my head...my only point was that the percentage is for items collected, not percentage of the main story completed.

Stof you are in for a lot of trouble to get the grapple. The space pirates really kick ass in combat (the colored ones). The worst part in MP for me was when I was trying to reach the mines (to get the powerbomb), there are dozens of rooms with hard battles and no save points. If you go on your energy is drained, if you backtrack enemies respawn and kill you.

Yeah, I remember that being a pain. When I got to the room with the power bomb, I was already low on health. The miniboss in that room knocked me down to less than 100 energy. I also got hit once in the morph ball maze puzzle just afterward, and got knocked down to so little energy that one more hit would've killed me. I was practically jumping for joy when I got the save point after collecting the power bombs. :)

It's Super Metroid day. For all you Metroid fans who haven't played this game yet, today is your lucky day. For many this is the definitive Metroid experience. For those that dled Metroid last week and were put off by the difficulty, this game addresses that by adding missile/energy recharge stations along the way. Couple this with the introduction of save rooms and you have a much more forgiving Metroid. Plus all new powerups! Happy hunting.

So we're getting really close.  The site should be chock full of media and reviews over the next couple days.  Lots of Metroid loving.  Lotsa Metroid Bashing.  Should be a party in other words.

Something I didn't think about when I created this thread was that this countdown doesn't apply to everyone.  I didn't quite know, for instance, that Europe has to wait several more months to play this game.  I'm terribly sorry.  But I have a question.  Just how many of you are out there that are buying this game don't get to play it on Aug 28th?  I'd like to keep a running tally to see where Metroid splits regionally on this site.  Does everyone already have a release date for their region?  And does anyone own a North American Wii that doesn't live in North America?

Does it come out at midnight on Sunday night (technically Monday morning) or does it come out at like 8am? I always mix up movie/game/system/software launches, they all seem to have their own rules.

It is a hardcore game through and through. You will get your ass kicked by bosses. You will be stumped by the sometimes complex, but never overbearing, exploration.
