I wish I had his job. I could make all the ridiculous predictions I want and I'd make a ton of money doing so.
Although being a good analyst means lots of research so it isn't as easy of a job as some people think.

Poor, Poor Squilliam, want so bad that the games flop that he has to invent reason why the number aren't right. Case in point BB sold 18k last week, ha!
Telling if a game is a flop by NPD? Yeah, imagine a game that sold, say 20k in the US, is it a flop? Come on say yes, then go look at DQ Vll. Now you see what a joke it is.

i wonder if this guys gonna get fired when at the end of this gen his boss realizes that al his anti wii and impossible predictions failed just like he said the wii was gonna fail

HE could be right about de Blob, but I see massive support here in Europe at the big retailers for the title.
However we KNOW from EA that the title was around 500k a few months back, so I really don't know why Pachter uses it as an example.
Should show part one of this series where they talk about how poorly Wii Music did. Now it's looking like it might clear two million before the holidays are over.
Pachter seems to have a hard time with ideas like long tails and production costs. Like so many others, he can't seem to see past NPD's top ten for some reason.

He knows about the legs. He's hoping him and his daughters "stories" will drag LBP a long way.
Its funny how they don't mentioned ANY of the HD games that have failed to make 500,000. These titles obviously cost much more and are marketed, promoted by these dudes talkin up HD games always and yet they don't sell. Hmm, why not mention that Pachy?
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
I'll say it again, this was recorded before November NPD was released. The reason I know this is because the first segment was shown last week, which means this was taped at least a week ago.
yea but thats irrelevent considering BK crashed and burned a month ago

For patcher, any game that doesn't do a million on its first week bombed, it doesn't matter if it is the cheapest game ever.

Because its the Wii and he will only use Wii games as examples of failure. Haven't u noticed?
