It will sell, but not as well as Wii Sports. Can you honestly tell me that EVERY SINGLE person who bought a Wii outside Japan would have bought Wii Sports if it wasn't bundled?

| Angel_DwK said: That's just it though.. no one "bought" the first one... it was given away with every system.. so basically your saying 50% to 60% of the Wiis install base are going to buy this game based solely on the fact that it came with their system? |
I don't think it'll have a 50-60% attach rate, more like 25-40%.
While Wii Sports came with the system, it should be quite obvious a ton of people would have bought it anyway. Bundling it was a smart move, because Nintendo can justify charging more, and it'll draw whoever's in the household into gaming, possibly leading to more purchases.
Anyway, whether you like it or not, Wii Sports is the new Super Mario Bros. When the NES came out, it created tons of copy-cat platformers, you can say the same thing about SMB, "theres nothing unique about it."
It's hard to tell if you're a joke account or not, so I feel a little silly responding to your posts...
@Kantor: I think it's pretty damn obvious it won't do as well as Wii Sports. The only way it can is if they switch the game bundles, which I'm doubtful of...
yes, it will be packaged in, and peoplz out there will see it as a new thing and buy it, the casuals are like mag pies, they like shinny objects so they swoop in to get it, they take it to their nest and dumb it there till they get distracted by the next shinny object a.k.a the next apple product...companies love these people :D
@Cord.
wow.. where do I start... ah how about everyone buying wii sports anyways bundled or not..
You completely killed that point...
you basically said that most of the people who bought a wii would have bough wii sports anyways and that bundling it they justified the 250 price tag... and that it was a smart move...................
so id say selling the wii alone for 200 and basically doubling your sales while everyone still buys the game is a better choice then just bundling a game that will sell 20+ by itself anyways..
I didn't say wii sports wasn't unique.. I said WSR wasn't unique..
because it isn't ... its the same thing as wii sports only with worst games..
WS and WSR do not compare to SM... the only thing that they have in common is being bundled at some point or another...

Basically doubling sales? How would that be possible? They can't keep the Wii in stock as it is, so that would be foolish. A price cut of $50 wouldn't come anywhere close to doubling sales anyway, not to mention it would cut their profit margins for selling the hardware down a ton.
Wii Sports is comparable to Super Mario Bros, because it's the biggest system seller we've seen since then (this time even bigger, due to the world scale and population increase).
As for what makes WSR unique, the fact it offers Motion+, and promises more "fun" is the selling point. It's basically representing Motion+, which should be a success (Nintendo will definitely push it, hard). According to you, Wii Play doesn't sound unique either, yet its attach rate is keeping up with the Wii quite nicely.
What's funny is that it will be called a "casual game" yet the hardest of the hardcore Wii owners will be taking it home on day 1.
if they sell it for 39.99 w/ wiimotio+.... watch out.. also the Jet Ski will be a huge selling point in the early spring... people get cabin fever, and need an escape. I personally will get this game. My first "casual" purchase... well i did get Wiiplay...
End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)
Wii- 72 million 3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases
360- 37 million Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak
PS3- 29 million Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut
Is Angel_DwK being sarcastic.. it is really hard to tell, because I can't sit here reading the posts under the assumption that those are his actual predictions
Anyways, it'll be day one for me, jet ski and sword fighting did it for me
Well considering everyone, i think, outside of Japan who owns a Wii owns this game, it's coming into the market with a large fanbase. Just having "Wii" in the title means it will probably sell millions. Not only that, but it's bundled with new hardware. This makes for a compelling buy, for those who want the game, and those who want the new hardware as well.
