Forums - Nintendo - Pictures shows a reason why 3rd party "core" Wii games don't sell...

What a "sweet" collection. No. But this is ultimately the store's decision and strategy, I'm thinking this is how they sell games there, probably mostly casual titles that go over the counter in there I guess.
"Hardcore" gamers are also using the web for purchases more and more while casuals still believe (to an extent) that buying something online is very, very unsafe and not to mention difficult.

Lol what an awesome thread.

where the fuk is Zelda?
Target manager should be slapped

pet and baby games need to be in the garbage

I think you guys are underestimating the public. It's true they'll have no idea about review scores but that doesn't mean they'll pick up garbage. There's ways to tell and you see it in the sales:

1) If it's Nintendo (Wii/Mario) very good odds it'll be fun and high quality. Look at Nintendo game sales. Other recognizable brands also benefit from this(Sonic/Rabbids)
2) If it's $50 it's probably a good game. If it's $20 it's probably crap or really old or most likely both.
3) Word of mouth. If your friend recommended it it's probably good.
4) Play it at a friends house or rented it so you know it's good.
5) Sales rep recommends it

Now casuals do seem to like some of those mini-game collections like the undying Carnival Games which I can't understand why that sucker sells as well as it does but apparently it's getting good word of mouth. But most of that crap (Kawasaski Jet Ski) sells like crap. The fact that the two year old Monster Truck 4x4 is still on the rack shows that even after two years no one has been dumb enough to buy it.

Also, there's a market for a lot of those games (American Idol, Petz, Price is Right) just not on this site.

It's also the distributors fault. I asked Sven of Capcom once why the hell Okami wasn't anywhere to be found in Europe. He said they didn't do the distribution of it in Europe.

Probably a lot of these shovelware publishers have very good distributors.

But hey, they have Fire Emblem. That's really all you need to get through the dark December days.

Dawg I tried the exact same thing..

And then theres all the stories of people who gets told that "That game is not out for Wii", when they ask for something like; Scarface, Godfather, Call Of duty, Okami and so on..

It's seems like this is becomming more and more of an an issue Nintendo would want to adress..

I thought I dreamed this thread. I woke up this morning and said "what a nightmare". But here it is. Reality.

But the sales generally speak for themselves. Only 2 real pieces of shovelware (so far, anyway) have gone on to sell 1 million: Game Party and Carnival Games. Otherwise, they've been quality titles at least, and great titles at best

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

I don't get it. What's the problem? Every console has shovelware. The fact that Wii is getting a gazillion shovelware titles is partly why it's so successful. Having a huge software library translates into higher overall sales and more revenue for everyone involved: Nintendo, third parties, retailers, etc.

I see four whole cabinets full of Wii games in those pictures. In my local area, Gamecube used to get ONE of those. Now that's something worth complaining about...
