I just got curious, how well current generations consoles do at minor markets (so no major markets here like USA, Japan or EU\Other as a whole)? So here's few numbers from... Russia. Please post numbers from any minor region if you have them. Thanks.
Little foreword. First of all, console market in Russia is tiny, PC totally pwns... but that's about marketshare, spekaing about market itself, well, even PC is barely profitable. Local publishers sells PC games considerabely cheaper than western publishers. You may check last russian (well, ukranian actually, but that's not a big deal) "big budget" project, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: http://www.ozon.ru/context/detail/id/3132093/ =869Ru ~$32, and that's a very costly game, collectors edition. Console games are at full price in Russia and even slightly more expensive, let's see Gears of War 2: http://www.ozon.ru/context/detail/id/3886968/ =2199Ru ~$81.
Sorry for picture quality, but this's official, taken from J’son & Partners review of russian console market of 2008 (hardware sales). I won't post a review itself, 'cos it in russian, but you can check the numbers. I still doubt these're actual numbers - Xbox never was officially sold in Russia, and it's 2% marketshare that's just strange to me, but the trend is correct - Sony domination (I'm not sure if Sony even cares about it ^_^ PS3 sells about ~200k, that's poor). Legal market only (so there's a chance that huge shadow market would completely change this graph):
