Don't know about other minor markets, but in Russia... brand loyalty. Most of people in Russia started "gaming career" as PS2\PSP or PC gamers (there were a couple of NES gamers, illegal russian Famicom clone was called Dendy, but after economic crisis of 1998 and gaming market decline, they just extinct and shift to PS2\PSP).
