Forums - Sales - PS3/Xbox 360 sales gap for year lessens to under 400k

well that is something, it took year and a holiday season to reduce the lead to around 5M but now its all gone and looks to improve on the old margin. How long till the PS3 gets back to the pre fall level

That all depends on the type of momentum the PS3 can gain from their price cut if there is one anytime soon. I think if Sony waits to long the price cut won't even matter.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I really doubt Sony is gonna price cut in MArch or April like some are saying. Sony is cutting jobs (granted from other business sectors) and I doubt they would plunge one of their very few profitable sectors (gaming division) into even more per console losses than they are already suffering under the current economic climate.

With 2-3 more weeks, and America numbers most likely being DOUBLE PS3 this week again, I can easily see 360 beating PS3 in overall sales this week. And next year if Sony's price but affects sales, Microsoft will simply drop another $50.

PREDICTIONS:
360 will outsell PS3 YTD for 2008. (CHECK!)
360 will have the best showing at E3 & TGS in 2009
2009 will be another year for the 360 over PS3
End OF 2009 SALES :: 360 - 40M;  PS3 - 30M; Wii - 70M

Sony is not going to cut price any time soon, they already have a huge lose in their gaming devision as oppose to MS which is breaking even. If a price cut were to happen they will be making amuch greater loss due to increase in loss per unit and quantity of units sold as well. Sony current bussiness is crap as well, firing 16,000 people and a debt of 10 billion, tough times for sony (and everyone whos not nitendo)

The 360 is not really half the price, because it also sells for $300 and $400.

If Sony are concentrating on making a profit there will be NO price cut in March, Heck the system is still losing money, if they cut down costs and the price they will still be losing money. How long for? Its blockbuster games aren't selling on par with the 360's and although they have probably started making a profit (R2,LBP,MS2) they are not making Sony big bucks. PS2 sales have fallen which won't help either.

You can't hold onto hope forever.
