Forums - Sales - FRANCE SALES LTD:

@shanbcn

that just about confirms the overtracking

For the French speakers here, I really recommend looking into the full interviews (http://www.gamekult.com/finances/articles/A0000072334/).

They interviewed a Sony, MS and Nintendo person and in addition to the insights on sales numbers (beautifully broken down by the good members of VGC above), they bring up some interesting points from the 3 "constructors".

Don't have the time or the courage to summarize but for example, the Nintendo guy insisted a lot on the fact the Nintendo is going to work on the "hardcore" gamer, Sony guy discussed, among many other things, price strategy (and was his regret for the year 2008 even, though does not hint at all at a price cut) and MS guy even stated that if not for shortages (was the 360 supply constrained?), they could have easily sold 100k+ extra consoles this year.

Good read altogether with no much stabbing each other or spinning.

Elaine: I will never understand people

Jerry: They're the worst.

360 gaining momentum...

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Either way, the sales would have to be made up in other parts of Europe to maintain the 2 to 1 - 3 to 1 ratio MS stated.

@lazyrider

there were 360 shortages in Jan/Feb of this year according to MS.

@darthdevidem01

Yes but we don't know exact PS3 numbers as of last week. But Sony expect PS3 LTD to be around 1.3-1.35 million at the end of the year. And 360 will pass 1 million some time in December.

If VGz PS3 numbers are correct then the difference is 300k with 360 at 876k. But personaly i think maybe PS3 is bit over tracked also, which mean the difference maybe is 250k.

@shanbcn

ok...

In France, shortages between midlle march to middle july. Really, it's at this time that they could have lost their 100.000 units.

I found another article about 360 sales in Japan.
http://www.gameblog.fr/news_7186_la-xbox-360-ecrase-tout-en-europe

So with 5,3 millions 360 SW sold and with tie ratio of 6.05 per console it means Xbox360 sales in France as of last week were 876k LTD. And they also say that it will pass 1 million in December.

More precisely:

xbox 360: the million for the middle of december said microsoft:

http://www.latribune.fr/entreprises/communication/publicite-medias/20081204trib000317976/bond-des-ventes-europeennes-de-consoles-microsoft-xbox360-en-novembre.html

Microsoft estime pouvoir dépasser d'ici mi-décembre, la barre du millions d'exemplaires vendus en trois ans.

 It's already done for vgchartz since the week 48, but for gfk/microsoft, it must happen for the weeks 50/51.

What i think about that is, it 's is really possible, because, if the number is 876k at the end of the week 48, as said shanbcn (it 's for week 48, 47 or 46, possibly week 46, because they speak of this interview the 21 november in the link of shanbcn), with 40k units each week now (less if the 876 k is for the end of the week 46), the million mark can be hit at the end of the week 51 (or week 50 with 30 k units per week during weeks 47, 48, 49, 50). We will see, because microsoft or gfk, will announce this event.

The 800k mark was reach for the week 46 (interview 21 november, end of the week 47), and it's more than 800k, if we read seriously, and so maybe 876k with the maths of shanbcn).

But, sony has introduce the rebat of 50 euro at the week 48, so it's not sure that it will happen as microsoft thought the 21 november, without this rebat.

Others things, the 360 was at 750k in the middle of september, so at the end of the week 37.

It will be incredible if the 360 hit only 800 k at the end of the week 46, with 22 000 units during this week, and some weeks before (said in the interview).

In France, there is the rebat of 40 euro since the week 45, and the price drop since the week 38.

DS: 6 million, as of today:

http://www.gamekult.com/articles/A0000072421/

Nintendo vient d'annoncer que le cap des 6 millions de DS vendues venait d'être dépassé en France. Un seuil que la console est la première à atteindre dans l'histoire de notre territoire, dans un délai assez incroyable de 3 ans et 9 mois.

http://www.jeuxactu.com/article-34224-6-millions-de-ds-en-france.html
