As Sham's said it came from a game store, so it is real in that sense.

It is a photoshop, that much is obvious (the Sonic CGI pick is from Secret Rings) but it was made by GameSpot to advertise the game, which makes it a heck of a lot more interesting, especially since Sonic has apparently also been included in a coupon booklet from Best Buy Canada advertising the game.

I don't believe that it came from a game store for one second. It's just a picture on a piece of paper. It's not in a display window or on a cardboard cut out. Just someone holding a piece of paper.

regarldess of what that article says, the picture was clearly printed off the internet, as you can even see the horizontal printer lines *you'd think they'd atleast print it at full quality*. And like I said before, That exact same photoshoped picture was made by someone and released months ago, only without Sonic in it at the time.

I think that there's a strong possibility Sonic will be in the final game (That cover is mocked-up though) because they are accepting third-parties based on them appearing on a Nintendo console and Nintendo have said that Sonic is the most-requested third party character. It's just the legal thing between Sega and Nintendo, and M&S at the Olympic games proves that can be done.

It'll certainly increase sales of the game if Sonic is in it.

My prediction for the character list is that they'll throw out all extra characters from Melee, especially clones, so Falco, Ganondorf, Mewtwo, Young Link, Roya and Pichu at least are going.

Ganondorf is all but confirmed, I don't have the link hadny but you can probably find it easily on Kotaku with a little bit of searching. In an interview with one of the Zelda Phantom hourglass producers (I believe that's who it was) he mentioned turning in art for Sheik and Ganondorf for Brawl.

And while I usually don't put a lot stock in rumors, the above one is one of the few I'll begin to believe because that was  mainly one of those developer slip up ones.
