Forums - Microsoft - Virtu-On's Spiritual Succuessor: War World (XBLA)

Yes. 2 quick Legend11-like posts about upcoming games. But dangit, this looks like the greatest multiplayer game ever created: Virtu-On for Sega Sat/Dreamcast and Arcades.

This looks to be THE XBLA game of 2007. It's 8p multiplayer, with great mech combat action. Very shallow in the way of story (there is none, just multiplayer). Nevertheless, it looks like a sequel to Virtu-On. It's a 3rd person shooter in the way of Virtu-On was. The art scheme is definately X360-friendly, as it looks like a more colorful UE3 game.

I have NO idea how this will be under the 50mb limit: or even the 150mb limit for all I know.

It's hard to imagine this will be a downloadable game. It will support 8 player Online Multiplayer, and 16 Player (1 human and 15 CPUs) offline.

Wow. Just wow. Words cannot contain my excitement about something of this kind of magnitude on the XBLA service. While the PS3 has some great games, this just seems to be the greatest thing new game XBLA can offer. Bring on the mechs!

I'll definitely buy it, but I don't know about XBLA game of 2007, Undertow looks quite good.  Personally I'm also looking forward to Switchball, Mutant Storm Empire, Castle Crashers, etc.

But the sooner MS gets rid of the MB limits for XBLA games, the better.  Didn't they recently announce Quake Arena would be coming to XBLA?  Can that possibly be under the 150MB limit?

Other XBLA news: here are the XNA Game Studio contest finalists.  None of these look too impressive just based on the screens.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

The amount of effort going into some XBLA games is really amazing.

It is amazing and I applaud the developers that take their time to make a great XBLA game. There are still some that will just throw anything up there, but the games are getting better.

On a side note what ever happened to Hoop World!?

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Price?

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

No arcade game has been over 1200 points....

I don't expect it to be over 1600. IMO, even at 1600 (provided it comes with a meaningful bit of quality), it might be a great value-buy.

I know there are tons of great XBLA games, but I just have a feeling that this might wind up the most-played XBLA game of the year - Gears of War style (it's still beating just about every game 2:1 on the MGC charts).
