Who are these "some gamers"?
Did this rant come from somewhere or just some really "dim bulbs" you know?

Yahtzee doesn't count -- he hates everything.

Mike from Morgantown

As you can see, some people who didn't want to openly troll have shown that they feel this way, but the one poster who pretty much said this out loud was Calamity4  or something like that. He had Sora from Kingdom Hearts as his avatar

I justdon't understand how people want series that are so awesome and fun to play every time to end. Do you know what a rehash is? Spyro and Crash Bandicoot.

A gross oversimplification on my part, but I guess the point I was trying to make was that anyone complaining that developers rehash old material over and over needs to take a good long look at the entire industry. Because it's rampart everywhere in it.

If a game sells well, count on there being a "2" in the not so distant future.

It it sells make another one.

Few are the consumers who don't own at least two in any series they like.

^In other words, those whiners don't know how to think "on economical terms".

That is the sentiment of some gamers which I have absolutely no idea of understanding. Can somebody please explain to me why someone would say this sober?

Because they've been around forever and need to go. I was playing Mario when I was 4.....16 years later I shouldn't still have to be subjected to the same game.

We always here about how every new FPS is a "generic shooter" or has a "been there done that" feel. So then why isn't Nintendo being criticized? They continually whore out their franchises over and over and over and over and over...

...and over and over again. And it's funny that it's mostly Nintendo fans bashing most other games because of a lack of "innovation" when they've been playing essentially the same Pokemon game for 11 years

I have absolutely no problem with the Mario and Zelda main series.  What bothers me is sticking Mario into random games to make them sell better, i.e. the olympics, golf, tennis, painting, basketball, baseball, rpgs, prescription pharmaceuticals, DDR, Pinball, and others like Mario Time Machine, Mario is Missing, Mario Picross (whatever the hell Picross is), Mario's Early Years, ...

Seriously, enough is enough.

Because they want more FPS and sports games

That's the only thing I can think of.

They don't have guns! They suck!

HARDCORE FTW!!!! ZOMG!!

Huh? I care just as little about FPS/TPS as I do about Mario. As for Zelda, I'd be very pleased with another Phantom Hourglass type game, but I could care less about the series since Ocarina of Time (Although I did enjoy WindWaker)

Why? Every Zelda since then has been better.

Especially Majora's Mask, probably.

I was always of the mind that LttP was by far the best in the series. Actually, I would say that LttP is damn near the best game ever. Unlike Mario, I didn't like its transition to 3D. Not that I think all the Zelda's since have been bad, it's just bitterness on my part.

But

But that doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the sequels as compared to that of Ocarina of Time

No, you're right. I apologize if my post read the wrong way. What I meant to say was simply that I haven't enjoyed the series much beginning with OoT, but by no means do I think they're not great games. Zelda games have always been the pinnacle of quality, I just much rather prefer the LttP/PH style and am somewhat bitter of the transition to 3d - much like those who haven't found Final Fantasy the same since VI.

I think the jumps to 3-D were great for both Mario and Zelda, but I never want them to fully replace the 2-D franchises.  I'm glad they keep 2-D Mario, 2-D Zelda, 3-D Mario, and 3-D Zelda alive, because they're all separate franchises in my mind.  But I'm definitely in the "Last good FF was VI" camp.  Endless FMV cutscenes killed RPGs for me.

(1) My favourite Zeldas go OoT, LttP, PH. So, yeah, I liked the transition, but the 2D gameplay ones are also incredibly favoured in my heart.

(2) YES ON FF.

...Tell me how, exactly, you're being subjected to these games.

Really.

Go ahead.

After I posted that, I knew that out of everything, that was the one thing someone was going to highlight lol.

Anyway, in the context I was using, if Nintendo wants me (another consumer) to by their product, I shouldn't still, after 15 years, expect a new Mario to still be the "next big thing" for the console. By saying that I'm "subjected" to it, I mean that if I were to purchase a Wii right now, Mario or Zelda is still, somehow after so long, a "must have" for the system. Come up with something new for a change. I expect more from the 1st party....if you want to talk about 3rd parties, that's a completely different story, even though the support from them for the Wii is dismal (yes dismal. Spin it however you want and say that the Wii sells the most 3rd party software..yeah, most of them the caliber of  "Game Party" or "Carnival Games")  I'm sorry, but I want to say that Nintendo is the LEAST innovative company out of the big 3 because they, after being in the business for over 20 years are still using Mario and the like as their big seller. I don't care about the Wii remote either. I can replicate tennis in Wii Sports by pressing X or A on the PS3 or 360 in Virtua Tennis, so even in that sense, Ninty isn't innovative.

I'll by a Nintendo console again (my last one was the N64..when I was 10) when they get more 3rd party support (and I mean the likes of MGS4 or even Street Fighter..uhh 4 lol (we've gotten a lot of 4's this gen, haven't we?) ) and don't shove anything with Mario in it down my throat.

And on a final note, no, No More Heroes and Zack and Wiki aren't going to make me think "Oh my! The Wii is a PREMIUM gaming console". You need more than that, and on a consistent basis

So... you don't see Mario Galaxy as an intrinsically different experience from, say, Super Mario World or Super Mario Bros. 3?

Or Zelda as being radically changed by the introduction of the third dimension?

Not going to ague Pokemon, there's not much that can be argued there unless you're into the metagame, and I'm going to guess that you're not that hardcore about RPGs.

No I don't because at the end of the day, you're still stepping on goombas and beating Bowser in order to save Princess Peach or in Zelda's case, going around as Link through Hyrule in order to save Zelda from Ganon.

And I love RPGs
