 Sony is interested in 2 things.

1. Profit from HW

2. A big installbase so that they buy much SW, gaining Sony profit and remaining their important name

 

As it is now, Microsoft seems to beat them in both those respects, and Nintendo is annhilating Microsoft.

I lurked long enoguh to realize how the OMG 400 VS 200 is bull. The 200 dollar 360 is the least selling one, the 300 is the most. Even if it was the other way around, it's Sony's fault for having such a price.

 I am actually more impressed by the difference in sales from when the Arcade was $280 compared with now at $200.  I would really like to know how it would have gone this week without that price change but I doubt it would have gone this way.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

 

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

 Not as bad? Looking at what you predicted in Twroo's thread, this is a very high order of damage control.

Well those were all predicted before the X360 got it's adjustments... ie when the PS3 was about to reclaim weekly sales numbers higher than it.

Well then why did you say it was not as bad? So you predicted a 5k diff and now a >410k diff is what you expect to warrant a 'not as bad' comment? Im not going to read the whole thread to see when your expectations changed, but reading the last comments of the thread, at least the other predictors didnt come up with crap like that and admitted the 360 is overperforming.

Whatever, there is nothing wrong with twroos thread, its good work, and it shows that the 360 is overperforming against their expectations. I dont claim to be able to predict well on a weekly basis. I dont care about your track record, its how you reacted that was very contradictory so I commented - it was severe damage control.

@Twroo - even if it was, I dont think peoples expectations and predictions changed by that much since last week which was when the 360 started heading in a different trajectory. Definitely not to the point people were expecting 2.4x was a 'not as bad' scenario? Heck, even me a 360 fan didnt expect that much until I saw MS announcement in regards to the 3x sales.

 

wat i was reffering to in this thread about "not as bad" ps3 is going to lose to 360 ww will be 410k was wat i though to myself not no one else on vgchartz i though b4 the others and na #'s came out the gap would be more than 450k

Exactly.  PS3 isn't down YoY, so there's reason to celebrate.  With how it's been tracking the past few weeks, that was a given..  >_>
