Forums - Nintendo - how do you feel about dewy's adventure. Will it pick up now in sales?

Appealing to the Casual crowd is essential for the Wii to maintain momentum in this hiatus of decent titles. Since most developers didn't jump onto the Wii bandwagon until well after its launch it'll be a while before we still see an ample supply of good third party games. Patience is key here. And the Casual crowd is but a small burden to bear in the mean time and is no doubt solely responsable for the Wii selling as well as it has inspite of its limited library.

The Casual Games are not the handicap of Nintendo, they are its lifeboat and sales pitch. The vehicle by which it will open the door to recapturing market dominance.

Incidentally PS3 is still announcing games that didn't begin development until well before the PS3's launch so we'll most likely see a stark reversal of third party game support in a year or two's time.

@albionus, I don't own a Dutch WII but a Japanese and am still waiting for my Dewy version, and guys it was just A JOKE!! Of course I'm not selling my WII...

And because I own a WII I'm not allowed to express my unhappy feelings about it from time to time? Sorry that I'm not really a fanboy.

My apologies Wiigirl, err, Onna76 I guess.  Dewy bombing just brings the worse out in people I suppose.  Complaining about problems with the Wii is of course fine but if you do it in a hyperbolic manner it'll be more vigorously replied to than a more measured, and clear, complaint.

I was on the fence about this one, but that video SOLD it to me. The polish and replayability being one of the higher factors. The only problem is, it's coming out a week after MP3...

I'd probably rent this game, since I haven't even finished Elebits yet. :) But I love the colors. It's innovative that it takes a drop of water that can turn into vapor or turn into ice. Haven't seen anything like it yet.

Currently loving my Wii x2, Xbox 360 Pro & Xbox 360 Arcade, and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Limited "Cloud Black" 160GB PS3

The difference between a casual gamer and a hardcore gamer can be found in the hands of a clock. The casual player has less time to play games, or has less desire to play games. A hardcore player might spend over twenty hours a week playing games. While the casual player might spend less then six hours in the same week. That is the only real difference between the groups. Casual was a term used long before the Wii hit the market.

Thanks to the Wii controls however the console is far more friendly to casual players. The controls are simple and intuitive improving the gaming experience for players who do not have the extra time to learn complex controls. The price is also friendly to casual players who feel less compelled to spend more for something they will use far less then their hardcore counterparts.

Complexity and design are not relegated to a particular system. For instance the GTA series is a casual game series. The game is open ended and has a sandbox layout. Hardcore players will probably work their way through the story mode. While casual players might play through a few missions, and then spend countless hours just wandering around killing pedestrians. The controls, difficulty, and the abundance of cheat codes make the game rather simplistic.

Simply being on the Wii console does not make a game casual in nature. Being on the console makes the game more accessible to the casual player however. When you use the term casual in reference to the Wii. Use it in reference to the controls that is the casual part. They are easy on the casual player, but are fine tuned enough for the hardcore player.

There is a casual market, and thanks to the Wii controls they can bring more casual players to their console. However casual players are not stupid or lazy players. They are players with less time on their hands. They are the kind of people that want to jump into a game for a hour and be able to leave and do something else. Some games do not let players do that. That is a design philosophy, and is often overdone by some developers.

I would gather by the design of Dewy that it is a casual friendly game. Notice in the demo the levels are small. The game time is minimal, and the design is straight forward. However that does not mean the game will not appeal to hardcore players. I suppose we will have to see the reviews.

At least it sold more than Guilty Gear... XD

Now back to reality... i really love this game... it just looks amazing... and i thing it's a game that would appeal more to the US and EU market that the japanese market... i think it has an "occidental" sign posted on the game's cover...

This game will be a totally failure, it will sold less than 40.000 all over the world. Five times less than Eledees that only sold 200.000 games.
What Wii supporters are asking for Konami is to make better games, we want for example: Castlevania, it would be amazing to control the whip with the wiimote, Zone of the Enders, Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Goemon...

PD: Now I remember having heard to Kojima to say something about he was interested on Wii, we already see it.

CUTE!!! Plus controlling of the remote is a requirement. That's all I can say for the moment, as I got the game in only about an hour ago. Feel a bit of Loco Roco deja vu in the sense of tumbling the area to make the character move. Downloaded the LR demo last week and never thought the game would be so much fun! But most of all I have a Elebits deja vu when it comes to music and graphics style.
