I have a hard time believing this survery. But at any rate most gamers in Japan dont buy their consoles, their parents do. That is why the Wii and DS have taken off here. Child friendly Nintendo is something parents allow their kids to play. When they go to the store and look at the HD system boxes for Gears of War, Call of Duty, or MGS4 they say no way. Wii and DS will rock it this holiday season. Then the PSP. And after that it is a toss up. The Ps3 was looking good but the Xbox360 is gaining momentum. It is the lack of big releases that is killing both systems, but Xbox has a few big titles like their role playing games and FPS. Sure some of them also release on the PS3, but the Xbox is cheaper as are the Xbox games. Even here in Japan they are feeling the economic crunch you know.

There are so many problems with the survey I don't even know where to start.
Apparently retailers expect the PS3 to outsell the Wii during the holidays. 7% of them expect the 360 to win over all other systems. That alone smells fishy.
Then we can look at other questions, such as:
This survey is obviously biased in some way, perhaps they're only surveying their readers? It reminds me of those "famitsu most wanted" game lists, where PS3 and 360 games would usually be above Wii games which sold by the boatload in Japan.
Famitsu surveys are nothing more than a curiosity. Don't use them to predict anything about reality. At best, they're a portrait of a certain segment of Japanese core gamers.
