Forums - General Discussion - The best Rap songs are.......

There are a lot of good songs out there, but there aren't many GREAT songs. Some withstand the test of time, or have the toughest beat you have ever heard. My songs are:

Still D.R.E.-Classic

Position of Power- 50 Cent

Juice- Chingy (I know, Chingy)

Notorious Thugs- Bone Thugz N Harmony & The Notorious BIG

Ether- Nas

The Cool- Lupe Fiasco

Clearly they still think "rap" is the same as the stereotypes portrayed on MTV or whatever else junk.

Try the real hip-hop stuff:

- Beastie Boys
- dead prez
- A Tribe Called Quest
- Eric B. & Rakim
- KRS-One
- Tupac

I know they're artists but still, people should check out some of their shit.
There's too many to name off the spot.
I like the older stuff but there has been some new artists that I dig, for example Lupe.

Wow. I feel like I'm the only one here thus far that actually listens to hip-hop. Anyhoos:

Cannibal Ox-Iron Galaxy
Aesop Rock-Daylight
Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth-They Reminisce Over You
Common-Nuthin' To Do
MF Doom(as Madvillain)-Accordian
J Live-Braggin' Writes
Boogie Down Productions-The Bridge Is Over
Marley Marl, Kool G Rap, Big Daddy Kane, Craig G and Masta Ace-The Symphony
Nas-It Ain't Hard To Tell

Many more too, but I'm getting bored.

That sounds like a mix of old-school and underground. I can't say I know too much about it unfortunately, maybe A.Z.
