I wouldn't call this a bad move by Square being that they aren't the ones selling the DVD.

I think they just need to manage their resources better. Their projects have become VERY bloated over the past ten years (just look how long it took to develop FFXII), and not even the likes of MGS4, Halo 3, Killzone 2, or GTAIV touch FFXIII's development cycle and budget.

If thats the case though, would that mean Final Fantasy XIII will be like what? 100 hours + long? it better be imo cause for it to take THIS long is uncalled for.

Well maybe not 2 but 3.. Like the popular Macross Frontier.. the show had 25 episodes.. and they are releasing the episodes on a rate of.... 3 episodes per DVD..... AND BLU-RAY!! 3 episodes on Blu Ray... that's crazy... 6000 yen/62 dollars for the dvd and 7000 yen/ 72 dollars for the Blu Ray... for 3 episodes!!

And they sell like hotcakes over there.. So Surely the FFXiii Disc will sell as well..

Wonder how much FFXIII need to sell to break even with budget, must be several million copies.

The reason why FFXIII and Versus take so long is because they had to build their Crystal Tools engine from ground up. It´s not a revamped tweaked version of their ps2 engine. Sony went a complete different direction with the ps3.

FFXII took so long due to the producer Matsuno being 'ill' (true or not, I think his relation with Square was deterring, that´s why he left).
